I have wanted to work in the community and give back in a positive way. This desire was transpired from my younger years of trials and now to the confident woman I am today. While attending TSU in hopes of one day to obtain a Bachelor of Social Work, I came in contact with a very confident and hard working lady Conswella Cloyd. After getting to know each other, we learned that we were placed in ot
hers path for this very purpose. In March 2009, Pink Diamonds was created by the two of us to empower and up lift teenager girls. As we know teenagers today are faced with many challenges such as the media telling them who they should be or look like, bullies in school, single parent homes or uninvolved parents, social status, facebook and other media networks, finances, and the list goes on. One of Pink Diamonds goal is to empower these girls and assist them with obtaining a sense of identity and loving themselves. PD's gives them a sense of belonging, which assist in helping them build confidence. PD also encourages the girls to "dare to be different"! Pink Diamonds goal is to teach these individuals to love and respect their selves, which in turn will allow them and teach them love and respect others. These girls will serve and help others which will assist with demonstrating compassion, un-selfishness, and commitment. We the founders of Pink Diamonds will encourage these ladies, and teach them that they are not what society has "labeled" them to be but only a "Diamond in the Rough" whom one day will shine eternally! This organization will run as a sorority and will teach the girls comradery, teamwork, and the importance of sisterhood. These ladies may not have a support system at home or school, but Pink Diamonds will be their support and family. These girls will be coached, loved and nurtured. They will learn to have a positive attitude, be confident, and be leaders
