Tournament Mission:
100% of the Net proceeds from the tournament benefit Halo House Foundation, a 501 c3 non-profit, that is preparing to build a 22-unit apartment facility to house cancer patients battling blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, and are in treatment at the Texas Medical Center. There is a shortage of affordable temporary housing in that area. Michael Wiesenthal,
Jared's father, himself, has been treated for a blood cancer and recognized the need for a facility such as this. Jared started the golf tournament as a way to help Halo House Foundation fulfill this need. About the Tournament Founder:
Jared Wiesenthal is a high school student at Emery Weiner, as well as the President of Cyrus Adler, a chapter within the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization. One day as he was hitting balls on the range with his father in the brutal Texas heat, he had an idea for a Father and Son charity golf tournament. Following in the foot-steps of his father and grandfather, who both hosted their own charity golf events, Jared felt like it was time to do his part by organizing and hosting his own charity golf tournament to help fight a horrible disease that he knew a lot about...Leukemia. When Jared was 10 years old, his father was diagnosed with Leukemia, which is a cancer where white blood-cells grow abnormally, and does not allow the body to fight infections. Jared said, "I don't want anyone to go through the hardships my family and I had to go through. I am having this tournament in order to give families a chance to come and live near the Texas Medical Center while paying only $20 a day, so that they can get the best treatment and medication."
