Dearest Family (and Friends we call Family),

Meet my long-time community friend Ms. Callie Simon. We met when Callie was in kindergarten and I was reading every Monday to her class at Greentree Elementary in Kingwood, Texas. Today, Callie is a 30-year-old woman and a community-supported “thriver”.

Together, we would like to share with you a NEW chapter of our lives we are most proud to announce. When we reunited 23 years later, we found a common bond that is about to be an inspirational Podcast and Newsletter. (We will send you a "launch link" if you wish) This is just the beginning of our sweet, sweet story.

Here’s Callie to explain more.

I'm Callie Simon and I have Cerebral Palsy.

I met my friend Sparky years ago when he used to read to me in kindergarten. Recently, we reconnected, thanks to some friends, and we decided to come together to create an inspirational podcast. Our episodes are filled with Hometown stories about our community, personal stories about our lives with special needs, and the sweetest stories about you and your dear families. We want to uplift and encourage our listeners, as our underlying theme is to always offer hope with our stories of persistence, resilience, and being an overcomer. We would love for you to pray for us, listen to our stories regularly, and to have your support in this new venture of ours!

Sadness in Cleveland, Texas

This morning at 3 AM, a young family of 5 children lost their mother to a fast moving cancer. The youngest is a 4 year old girl and the oldest is 18. The father is in construction and the kids go to Cleveland High, Cleveland Middle, and Cleveland Elementary. My friend lives next door and the 13 year old came to her and told her that "Momma is dying." My friend held her hand as she passed away.

I was in the grocery store when I heard the news. I tried to keep shopping, but my heart was too broken along with my friend and the family next to her. The Mother that died loved children and was known as an uplifting person for those that knew her.

Cleveland is a good town and community. Lots of good people come from there and live there. Prayers for the entire City of Cleveland. May they reach out in love and compassion and comfort that family. Prayers for that Father and his children.
