To all of the DECATS community, both past and present; DeBusk Foundation Board Members, Faculty and Staff, Parents, Graduate Assistants, Scholars and Supporters,

My heart is full of gratitude to God for the privilege of serving the DECATS family these past 32 years. Following in the founding footsteps of Mr. Manuel DeBusk, Dr. Diane Cooper and Dr. Marty Webb, it has been a great joy to see this life-changing program root, grow and bear fruit to transform the lives of more and more gifted Scholars throughout the years.

And I am certain it will continue to thrive and soar under the leadership of Mr. John Michael Cuccia, who has been a part of DECATS since 1998, first as a Scholar, then graduate assistant, and for many years alongside me as senior program director. Mr. Cuccia will now continue serving DECATS Houston as its new executive director.

I'll continuing to pray for all of you as you continue this important mission!

We could not call this incredible 32nd summer complete without you! From the bottom of our hearts, 💙 THANK YOU 💙 for joining us. Nothing will hold us back from fulfilling our mission to make a difference in the lives of gifted children - our life's work for three decades. We are so grateful to be able to contribute to your Scholar's education in the formation of tomorrow's leaders.

Our profound gratitude as well goes to DeBusk Foundation for its leading financial support to make our program possible, as well as to our host sites and staffs at Incarnate Word Academy, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and St. Anne Catholic School - Tomball .

Our rodeo for this summer may be complete, but the fun isn't over yet: stay tuned for a full round-up of professional photos from all three sites and other updates from us. We'll see you in 2027!

🏴‍☠️ Batten down the hatches! “A Pirate’s Life for Me” turns Scholars into shipwright-engineers! They design foil boats that survive “storm rounds,” test which materials truly waterproof a treasure chest, and harness air as a force to race ships across the water. Then they craft legendary treasure, draw maps with one cleverly misleading clue, and send rival crews on a campus-wide hunt against the clock. 🗺️

💎 Tiny gems, dazzling results: welcome to “Dazzling Design”! Scholars place sparkling resin “diamonds” onto canvases to build vibrant, eye-catching art. As they work, they explore how pattern, shading, and color combinations make an image pop. Re-creating a masterpiece or inventing their own, they turn tiny gems into treasured works of art. ✨

🎉 All kinds of wonderful things to celebrate from Manners to Morals Day! For their service project, Scholars in "Values & Morals" led the community in a food drive for St. Vincent de Paul's Food Pantry. Through their leadership, we were able to make record-breaking contribution of 1383 items! 🫶
