Medical Bridges Inc

Medical Bridges Inc We save, procure, repurpose donated medical surplus and distribute it to resource-limited healthcare facilities worldwide. Thus Medical Bridges ® was born.

We are bridging the healthcare gap worldwide! 💛
www.medicalbridges.org Medical Bridges ® recovers medical surplus that would otherwise be discarded and redistributes it locally for disaster response, and to hospitals, clinics and healthcare providers in less fortunate countries. Our goal is to bridge the healthcare gap, connecting those who have with those who hope. Each person who receives medica

l care because of a Medical Bridges ® donation is a testament to the power of giving health and giving hope. WHERE SURPLUS FINDS PURPOSE

Over $9 billion of medical supplies are discarded each year in the United States. As medical technologies advance, outmoded (but perfectly good) equipment and supplies gather dust in hospital storage rooms across the nation. At the same time, people all over the world are suffering and dying because their community urgently needs these life saving tools. In 1997 Dr. Patricia Brock decided to do something about the waste. On a medical mission to El Salvador, she was struck by the country’s lack of basic medical supplies. Upon returning to Houston, Dr. Brock, and a group of concerned individuals, established a recycling program to channel unused medical equipment and supplies (everything from MRI machines to bandages) to qualified healthcare providers who desperately needed them.

🇺🇦 Building Bridges of Hope for Ukraine 🌍

We were honored to welcome the new Consul General for Ukraine, Vitalii Moshkivskyi, and Consul Pavlo Moiseichenko to Medical Bridges for a tour, lunch, and meaningful discussion about advancing humanitarian support for Ukraine.

The need remains urgent. Since the start of the conflict, over 2,500 hospitals and healthcare facilities, along with 68 medical warehouses, have been attacked—including children's and maternity hospitals. Access to quality medical care continues to be a critical challenge for millions.

Medical Bridges has responded by delivering more than $20 million in medical equipment and supplies to support healthcare providers serving communities across Ukraine. Together with partners, donors, and dedicated leaders, we remain committed to ensuring lifesaving resources reach those who need them most.

Thank you to Consul General Moshkivskyi and Consul Moiseichenko for visiting Medical Bridges and for the opportunity to discuss how collaboration can strengthen healthcare access and humanitarian relief.

💙💛 Every shipment represents hope, healing, and solidarity.

Two containers. Thousands of lives impacted. Countless moments of hope.

Through the power of partnership, Medical Bridges and HHRD delivered two containers of critical medical equipment and supplies to Wajir County, Kenya, strengthening healthcare services for some of the region’s most underserved communities.

Shipped from Houston and distributed through the Wajir County Ministry of Health, the donations carried a combined value of more than $460,000 and are expected to directly and indirectly benefit over 140,000 people.

In a region where healthcare facilities often face shortages of beds, diagnostic tools, oxygen support systems, emergency equipment, and maternal care resources, these donations are helping hospitals and clinics respond more effectively to disease outbreaks, emergencies, maternal health needs, and everyday patient care.

For healthcare workers on the ground, this means:
* Better tools to save lives
* Faster and more accurate diagnosis
* Reduced referrals to distant hospitals
* Improved maternal and child healthcare
* Greater dignity and hope for patients and families

From Houston to Wajir, this is what global partnership looks like, surplus medical supplies reaching the hands that need them most.

Thank you to HHRD, the Wajir County Ministry of Health, our donors, volunteers, logistics teams, and every partner helping bridge the healthcare gap across miles.

It’s Healthcare Technology Management Week, and we’re celebrating the people and partnerships that keep medical technology working, and making an impact far beyond our walls.

At Medical Bridges, every piece of equipment is carefully assessed by our biomedical technician to ensure it is safe, functional, and ready to support healthcare providers around the world. And when equipment needs more extensive repair, it doesn’t go to waste.

Through our partnership with College of Biomedical Equipment Technology, equipment that cannot be immediately restored becomes a powerful learning tool for the next generation of biomedical technicians.

Nothing is wasted. Everything has purpose.

✨ Students gain hands-on technical experience
✨ Equipment is restored and given a second chance
✨ Communities around the world receive critical medical resources

This partnership creates a powerful cycle of impact, from training labs, to repaired equipment, to strengthened healthcare systems globally.

A special shoutout to Sarah Echandy, our Managing Director, San Antonio, for helping build partnerships that turn innovation, education, and service into lasting global change.

This is what Healthcare Technology Management is all about: ensuring medical equipment continues to serve, teach, and heal.official College of Biomedical Equipment Technology

A powerful story of partnership, perseverance, and humanitarian action.

We’re honored to be featured by the Houston Chronicle for highlighting how Medical Bridges, alongside our partners, successfully coordinated the shipment of $800,000 in critical medical supplies to support healthcare providers serving communities in Gaza.
This effort required months of coordination, international collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to one mission: ensuring frontline healthcare workers have the resources they need to provide lifesaving care.
This shipment represents what is possible when healthcare institutions, humanitarian partners, logistics experts, and global stakeholders work together to expand access to essential medical resources.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible, from our hospital partners and volunteers to international coordination partners who helped move this aid responsibly and effectively.
This is humanitarian action in motion.

Medical Bridges was honored to partner with All Hands and Hearts on today’s humanitarian medical shipment supporting field hospitals and clinics serving communities in Gaza.

This effort brought together healthcare institutions, humanitarian partners, and international coordination to extend high-quality surplus medical equipment from the Texas Medical Center to areas where medical need remains urgent.

We are deeply grateful to the Government of Cyprus, the UAE, and partners supporting the Cyprus Maritime Corridor, including UNOPS-managed 2720 mechanism, as well as the U.S.-led Civilian Military Coordination Center, for helping facilitate the coordination with Israel and partners related to humanitarian access and logistics.

Today’s shipment reflects what is possible when partners across sectors unite around a shared commitment to humanitarian relief and strengthening access to essential medical care.

As this mission moves forward, we look forward to sharing more about the collaboration, coordination, and impact behind this important work.

Thanks to Helping Hand for Relief and Development, a container of hope has reached Pakistan.

Medical Bridges is proud to share the successful distribution of medical equipment and supplies valued at over $180,000 to Raazi Hospital in Islamabad, strengthening care for more than 62,100 beneficiaries.

This shipment is already helping expand the hospital’s capacity to provide critical services including maternal and child healthcare, emergency response, outpatient treatment, and essential medical care for underserved communities across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and AJK.

Raazi Hospital serves as a vital charitable healthcare institution, providing accessible and affordable care to thousands of patients each day. With this donation, their team is better equipped to meet growing healthcare demands and continue serving vulnerable populations with dignity and excellence.

This impact was made possible through the power of partnership and shared purpose. We are deeply grateful to our partners and local leaders who helped ensure these resources reached the hands of healthcare providers who need them most.

Every shipment represents more than medical supplies, it represents stronger health systems, expanded access to care, and healthier futures for communities around the world.

After a two-year pause, this moment is deeply meaningful.

Medical Bridges is returning to Haiti; renewing a longstanding commitment to supporting healthcare providers and communities with essential medical supplies and equipment.

This partnership reflects more than a shipment; it reflects continuity, trust, and the enduring power of collaboration. From responding after the devastating 2010 Haiti earthquake to helping equip a hospital, Medical Bridges has stood alongside Haiti in moments of urgent need.

This week, that commitment continues through partnership with HHRD, Rose & Chris of United Light of Hope, all working together to ensure critical resources reach the people and healthcare facilities that need them most.

This shipment is a reminder that impact is built through sustained partnership, shared purpose, and showing up, again and again.

Some visits stay with you long after the conversation ends. ❤️

Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming Tamyam Massingar, Founder of Gouri Village Project to Medical Bridges. Together with our Supply Chain Manager, Alan Bourgeois, and Director of Global Health, Dr. Tadia Diallo, they reviewed the final needs for the BUILD at Texas A&M University clinic shipment headed to Chad.

Because at Medical Bridges, it is never simply about sending equipment. It is about sending the right equipment. Every detail matters when communities, dignity, and lives are involved.

During the visit, Tamyam shared a beautiful token of appreciation: a kãll, a traditional calabash from Chad. A symbol of gratitude, heritage, nourishment, and connection. 🌍

What made the moment even more meaningful was hearing the story behind the health center we are supporting. It was built in memory of Tamyam’s grandfather, a man who served during World War II. In a moving coincidence, our CEO Walter Ulrich’s parents also served during the same war.

Different families. Different journeys. Yet connected across generations through service, sacrifice, and a shared commitment to humanity.

We are deeply honored to support a health center built in memory of such a remarkable man, and profoundly grateful for partnerships that remind us how beautifully interconnected our world truly is.
