The United Way of Greater Houston Computer Lab is BACK!!!
QuickBooks is BACK!!!

I had the pleasure of teaching various QuickBooks classes for nonprofits from 2012 until COVID shut us down in March 2020.

The very popular "QuickBooks in Nonprofits: A Two-day Crash Course" is in the planning stages for two sessions--November and December 2022.

Registration should be open next week on the United Way of Greater Houston website at https://www.unitedwayhouston.org/nonpro.../computer-classes/

While you are waiting for registration to open, check out all of their fantastic classes in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint...and soon to return QuickBooks! See you then!

My session will be:

Understanding How QuickBooks Thinks

Ah, QuickBooks. The program we love to hate. It’s affordable, user-friendly, and you don’t need an accounting degree to use it. Then why isn’t it giving you reports that help you determine financial success, make business decisions, track restricted funds and grants, and develop better budgets? Could it be that you simply aren’t communicating with QuickBooks correctly?

QuickBooks, at its core, is a database and for it to work as intended, you must treat it like a database. If you aren’t receiving the information you need, it’s likely because you aren’t giving QuickBooks comprehensive data in the correct location and format for it to answer your questions.

In order to build a productive QuickBooks database and benefit from its features, you must understand how QuickBooks’ software developers designed it to THINK. Understanding how QuickBooks thinks will lead to better database design and data entry resulting in enhanced reports and improved financial management.

Thanks to those of you who have been visiting Youth Sports Board Room during this difficult and confusing time. I'm sorry that there hasn't been more content during these stay-at-home orders, but I've also been struggling with the impact that the virus and economy has had and will have on my business. I'm finding new ways to work including developing my training programs for online delivery and finding ways to offer my nonprofit accounting and consulting services remotely.

Please stay in touch and contact me if you have any questions regarding nonprofit management, nonprofit accounting, or QuickBooks. Please take care of yourselves and your organizations.

The class runs from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm each day in the United Way computer lab at 50 Waugh Drive, Houston, 77007. The cost for the two days is $170.

QuickBooks is an excellent and affordable tool for the detailed bookkeeping required of nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations. In this two-day class, nonprofit veteran Mona Fluitt will teach you methods for building and using your QuickBooks file for better reporting in order to make confident business decisions as well as prepare for your IRS 990 tax return and annual audit. Whether you are new to QuickBooks or have inherited a QuickBooks file and system that doesn’t answer your business questions, Mona’s approach to bookkeeping with QuickBooks will strengthen your financial reporting to help tell your story to board members and donors.
