Thank you to all of our volunteers who hosted the SPE-GCS booth at Energy Day on Saturday, October 15, 2022. The Energy Day is Houston’s largest FREE family festival showcasing exhibits focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). SPE-GCS participated as a sponsor and also had a booth where we featured exciting exhibits and interactive demonstrations to teach students and their families about various forms of energy and how through STEM education, they can find an exciting career in the energy industry.

Registration for our 4th Annual SPE GCS TopGolf Fundraiser is now open!

Join us on March 3rd to play and network with 100+ oil & gas professionals from all disciplines and experience levels while enjoying food, drinks, raffles and prizes. This is one of our main scholarship fundraisers, and a great venue to support local students pursuing degrees.

The best part? You don't need any prior experience with golf or Top Golf! All you have to do is swing a club and try to get the microchipped golf balls into dartboard-like targets. It can be casual or competitive, and because it’s always better with a big group, we’re getting the vibrant community of Houston back together for it!

Check out our page at https://www.spegcs.org/topgolf/ and grab yourself some early bird tickets before we run out!

Please join us for our In-Person General Meeting with Phil Grossweiler, Principal Consultant at M&H at the Petroleum Club of Houston on January 13th, 2022.

Climate change and Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) is increasingly viewed as an existential threat to a sustainable future. Demands to “decarbonize” energy grow rapidly and pose a serious challenge to the energy industry.

This presentation summarizes the need for oil and gas as a worldwide energy source at mid-century and beyond. It also highlights ideas of several key thinkers regarding climate issues and industry activities to get to “zero net emissions” by mid-century.
Industry leaders and professionals must avoid thinking “We are not climate scientists” as a barrier to engaging proactively in addressing climate issues. Broad systems analyses are needed to develop energy solutions - working across the nexus of the realms of energy, environment, and economics. SPE professionals working in energy can contribute a broad range of expertise. We must be proactive in engaging the worldwide community – earn trust as serious solutions providers.
