From Tehran to the U.S. at 18, Dr. Yazdi pursued her passion for dentistry, earning her degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center. For 26 years, she has led a thriving practice focused on community care and well-being.

Inspired by her father, a pioneer in modern dentistry in Iran, she continues to give back—supporting charities, collaborating with peers, and providing care both in the U.S. and abroad.

Get to know our next 2026 Women in Medicine honoree, Anastacia “Cia” Pappas 🌟

A pediatric hematology/oncology nurse in Houston, Cia was inspired by her late father’s cancer journey to give back to the community that stood by her family. Today, she provides compassionate care at Texas Children’s Hospital Cancer Center while pursuing her Nurse Practitioner degree at Texas A&M.

Her dedication has already earned her recognition, including Nurse Resident of the Year and the Good Samaritan Nurse Bronze Award—just the beginning of what’s sure to be an incredible career. 🩺

Outside the hospital, Cia stays deeply involved in her community through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and helps lead the Jimmy Pappas Memorial Clay Shoot, supporting multiple cancer-focused organizations.

Driven by family, guided by purpose, and committed to making a difference—Cia embodies what it means to serve others. We’re honored to celebrate her! 💫
