SHE - Sisters Helping to Educate & Empower The Lone Star Chapter supports the V4W program initiative and the Blood Sisterhood by providing SHE – Sisters Helping to Educate and Empower.

Our mission is to serve the needs of adult women, teens and young girls in the Lone Star Chapter service area who are affected by a bleeding disorder through Education, Empowerment, Advocacy and Networking. Through the local chapter program, women and girls will meet on a monthly basis for speaker presentations, small group meetings, and general fellowship. During these meetings we will discuss wa

ys to “Tell Your Story”, advocate for yourself, educate the public and medical professionals, as well as many other topics. We will also discuss other opportunities that are available to women and girls throughout our region such as the Gulf Plains Region Women’s Retreat, Gulf Plains Region Girls Camp, Houston Hemophilia Walk, Advocacy Days in Austin, and Texas Bleeding Disorders Conference.

We are hoping to reschedule it for a later date and will update everyone at that time. The program is for females ages 12 and up that are diagnosed with a bleeding disorder or are affected by a bleeding disorder (sibling, mother, daughter, aunt, caregiver, etc). Lunch will be served. The topic is "Taking Care of You". The event is being held at the Forke Store (New Braunfels Conservation Plaza) 1300 Church Hill Drive, New Braunfels, Texas. ANNOUNCING: an advocacy opportunity for teens in the bleeding disorders community!

We know that young people have BIG ideas but often lack the means to bring those ideas to life. Light's Camera Advocate is a new program that awards a $500 grant to select teens to execute their own short advocacy video!

Applicants must be 15 to 19 years old, living in the United States and a member of the bleeding disorders community.

Deadline to submit is Friday, May 17th.
