We are a community based learning cooperative made up of Unschoolers and their families. We have been part of the nontraditional learning community of Houston for ten years. Over the years, in addition to our day to day activities with the young people, we have hosted many, many "Open Dialog on Education" discussions, shown films, hosted speakers and worked to address ADULT-ism in society. We have
also hosted workshops on the many forms of violence, abuse and neglect that take place in all segments of our society towards young people. Our day to day project is for and run by the young people. We also host workshops on non-coercive parenting. In 2015, we are relocating to a new home. At this time, we have not found that special place. If you have a suggestion, please contact us. Currently, we are meeting in private homes of co-op members. Everyone is welcome to join us. If you have participated with The Real School Houston in the past, we would love to reconnect with you. Please send us an email or call for meetup locations and times. We are also willing to partner with other groups for workshops, discussions, reading groups and meetups with any type of nontraditional learners. We welcome volunteers. We are also willing to answer questions and give resources to people interested in learning about all different types of educational alternatives. Please see our recommended reading list under the "Resources" tab on our website. Please get in touch, if interested. We have been many things to many people over the years. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful young people. We are willing to morph and change and grow -- that is the underpinning of our continued friendships within the co-op. Please contact us, if you have an interest in learning more. Happy New Year from The Real School Houston!
