A perspective on "professionals" or "experts" -- firstly, YOU are the guru of YOU -- you are YOUR expert. That being said, do you understand WHY Harvard created the round table discussion for doctors? Because when a doctor is unable to figure out a treatment plan for a difficult problem, they enlist ALL the other "experts" to add commentary/opinion/expertise to their case. So, when YOU have a problem POST PREGNANCY, why are you following a streamlined, one-answer approach to your healing and recovery? You've just birthed a human, who is his/her own entity with unique and specific needs and YOU also have unique/specific needs and are still connected to that baby (believe me, as a mom, you are connected for life to that baby! unlike the dad...) Your recovery, healing and overall health are 100% unique to YOU and your situation, your culture, your home, your environment... Please take a moment to take a breath and not rush BUT do go inward and feel and think before you act on just one expert's advice which is the conglomeration of the medical establishment which has been streamlined for profit, not your HEALTH.

You've literally needed the calories as if you were running a marathon while pregnant. You've taken a 'beating' growing an organ (placent), grew another human inside you, stretched your skin, possibly had other issues that went along with this journey like gained weight or high blood pressure or other. Now you have a baby in arms AND are expected to mostly bounce-back according to some "expert" or some books or someone else's thinking. This is about YOU. Speak to 100 people who all ran their first marathon and you will see that there are 100 ways and timelines to "RECOVER." The message here is the world and your community is not taught to support you in what you want or need. Your job, your family, your friend support -- all are under the same delusion having read the same propaganda or had a baby and said "I recovered just fine." THIS time is about YOU and you alone. I understand you might not be able to take the time off you want from work etc. BUT if you can sit and feel out what you need to recover, it's not going to be instant nor is it likely going to be the "three months the doctor says you'll be fully done recovering." If you're struggling in ANY way - poor sleep, not enough milk, low energy... You need to actually address these issues so your body doesn't build a new stressed homeostasis around this lack and deficiency.

You are unique and your nutrition needs are unique. And if you birthed a baby, and you're feeling exhausted, it's very likely your body is struggling to get back to homeostasis. It's also likely not just an easy "one-sided" answer of "just get more magnesium" (for better sleep) or take some "anti depressants" for "some"/a little depression, or make sure your body is moving/exercising... It's likely a combination of overwhelm because mothering is unlike any other profession AND nutritional lack AND poor sleep AND emotional overwhelm, and so on. You need to look within and see what you need. Let me know if I can help!

Scientific, medical, medicinal, curative, cancer, et al "research" is done on men - as in XY people - not XX. You can't expect to add EXTRA butter or replace butter with oil in a cake recipe and expect to get the same cake following a recipe. The recipe is written to get an expected result. If you add "too much" estrogen, "too little" testosterone, etc. you don't get the "same" product. We as women, as in XX people, have not been given equal treatment. In fact. just take birth control as one thing--Stanford univ is harboring TONS of research on female birth control... Why won't they share it? It's behind essentially a major paywall -- you only get access if you enroll and likely ONLY get access if you're in medical school there...
Look at the trends online -- for example, here in FB mother groups -- basically we now have "crowd sourced medical advice" from moms -- we burned witches/women at the stake, we put grandmothers in nursing homes, we were fooled into thinking white-coats were "experts" and now moms are reverting to trying to get REAL advice and help online as in "grandmother wisdom" because they can't get helpful (real) wisdom from the "experts" in white coats. "Crowd sourced medicine" because the "experts" only give you one "answer" from their textbooks.

Did you know that when a woman is pregnant, her energy expenditure is like biking the Tour De France? or any other max endurance sport? Studies show that humans can cope with a max energy expenditure of 2.5x its resting metabolic rate. The peak during pregnancy is 2.2x!
Once you give birth and your body loses the placenta, your body must acclimate to all sorts of other changes, as well as getting back to homeostasis -- and many women find this a near impossible task because of course, they have to keep "running" full speed to keep up with baby and life in general!
You are unique. Your nutritional needs are unique. Do you want some help getting your energy levels back to boosted? Let me know!

Moms need support for their overall health and wellbeing. WHY is there an epidemic of women who are hypothyroid in later life? AND often, for the longest time, they are "subclinically hypothyroid" --> the same building blocks for your "good hormones" like estrogen and testosterone can be used up* (colloquially speaking) to make your stress hormone, CORTISOL! Hmmm. It doesn't take a rocket scientist. Plus, medical studies overall are typically conducted using MALES/XY bodies (mice, humans, etc) so how would XX-recipe turn out like XY-recipe? Afterall, if I alter the amount of BUTTER in my cake recipe, I don't get the same cake! I know that is possibly "simplistic thinking" but... It's a message for you to go think about it to learn and grow on your own!

*this is solely for entertainment purposes only. this is not to be construed as medical advice. please see your medical experts/doctor/etc for any medical advice.

This phrase over and over keeps going through my head -- and has since about 2016: "Mother the mother so she CAN mother, M*th4r F***ers!"
seriously... Mothers in USA are chastized left and right for doing things "wrong"...enculturated in this petri dish of false-prophet-"experts to squash down instincts--for eons! Then derided and berated that "French mothers mother better" and "Danish Mothers mother better" - GUESS what?? Mothers (and/or families) receive $$, and TIME, and paid help, etc. for months and even YEARS in other countries - Austria, Norway, France, etc. This is the "HELP" that mothers in America aren't given.
