Who is Pack 1138?
• Cub Scout Pack 1138 is chartered to Grace United Methodist Church on Heights at 13th St.
• We have Cub Scouts from several elementary schools. Harvard, Highland Heights and Love elementary are 'zoned' to our Pack but any school is welcomed to join.
• We are part of the Lone Star District in the Sam Houston Area Council. I’ve signed up with Pack 1138, what happens now?
• Visit
our Pack website for an up to date calendar of events. for our Welcome New Families Activity Day, from 9am on September 9th, 2023
What happens after that?
• Your child will be assigned to a Den and you will be contacted by your Den Leader.
• You will participate in 2 - 3 Den meetings a month and one Pack meeting every month, in addition to other special events and activities outlined on our Pack Calendar. What is a Den and Den Meeting?
• Each child is assigned to a group of about 6-8 Scouts (usually no more than 10) of the same age/grade level called a Den. Dens are grouped by the following ranks:
Tiger (First Graders, accompanied by an Adult Partner)
Wolf (Second Graders)
Bear (Third Graders)
Webelos (Fourth Graders)
Webelow II (Fifth Graders) – Arrow of Light focuses on preparing the boys to cross over and become Boy Scouts.
• Each Den works towards a rank based on their age/grade level. The adventures they complete to earn their rank are outlined in the Cub Scout Handbooks and are fun, meaningful and age-appropriate. What is the Pack and Pack Meetings?
• All of our Dens combined make up our Pack (Pack 1138).
• Once a month during the school year, all the Dens meet together in a Pack Meeting. The Pack Meetings are for all of the Scouts and their Families and consist of Awards, Activities, Songs, Skits, and Announcements (all of the boy’s major awards and badges are presented at Pack Meetings).
• Unless otherwise announced, Pack Meetings are the last Monday of each month during the school year at 6.30pm in Fellowship Hall at Grace United Methodist Church
How will I know what the Pack is doing?
• Den & Pack Meetings are the best way to stay informed. Information is relayed at Den & Pack meetings.
• Any Den or Pack Leader is available at any time for questions. Feel free to call or email Cubmaster Jose Ampudia:
