The Association of Junior Leagues International Annual Conference brought together Junior League members from across the world for valuable conversations, leadership development and networking opportunities.

While at the conference, the Junior League of Houston was honored to be named one of four Leagues of Distinction and recognized for celebrating our Centennial year.

We are excited to bring new ideas, fresh perspectives and continued passion back to the Junior League of Houston.

As Pen Pals Project Chair, Rachea Amdemariam has brought warmth, dedication, and thoughtful leadership to a program she has supported for the past four years.

Her welcoming spirit has created a space where volunteers feel connected, supported and valued, while helping strengthen the Pen Pals partnership with three HISD elementary schools.

As Rachea transitions into sustainerhood at the end of this League year, we’re incredibly grateful for her service, leadership and the meaningful impact she has made on the Junior League of Houston and our community.

Member Spotlight: Katherine “Kate” Phillips ✨

As Picture Pals Project Chair, Kate Phillips has led with creativity, care and dedication. After three years in the program, she stepped into the chair role with a strong commitment to both volunteers and students.

Her kindness shines through in every interaction, from supporting volunteers to engaging with Westview School students and staff. This year, she also planned a joyful Artist’s Reception celebrating students receiving their Picture Pal binders.
Balancing leadership while welcoming her first child is a true testament to her heart and dedication. We’re proud to recognize Kate and are grateful for her impact this year.
