More than 100 Junior League of Houston members came together on Saturday to volunteer at Childspree, an annual back-to-school event hosted by Child Advocates that the League proudly supports each year.

Through our longstanding partnership with Child Advocates and Target, approximately 100 Houston-area foster children enjoyed a private shopping experience before the store opened to the public. Each child was paired with a Junior League member who served as their personal shopper, helping them select new clothing, shoes and other back-to-school essentials. Every child also received breakfast, a new backpack and school supplies to help them start the school year with confidence.

While the new clothes and school supplies are important, Childspree is about so much more. It's about helping children feel seen, supported and excited for the school year ahead while reminding them their community is cheering them on.

Thank you to our incredible provisional, active and sustainer members who volunteered their time to make this special day possible. Together, we continue building a better community—one child, one family and one act of service at a time.

Our 2026 – 2027 Leadership Institute Training class is off to a wonderful start!

We were thrilled to welcome 25 outstanding women at our Kick-Off Social at Hearsay Levy Park. The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, new connections and plenty of excitement as participants began building relationships before their training sessions begin.

We look forward to watching this incredible group grow as leaders, learn from one another and build lasting friendships throughout the year. Here's to an inspiring year ahead!

Out & About: Junior League members gathered at Emancipation Park, the oldest park in Houston, to commemorate Juneteenth through a meaningful celebration of history, culture and community.

Together, we reflected on the significance of the holiday, strengthened connections with fellow members and honored the enduring legacy of freedom and resilience.

For 101 years, we have been building a better community through leadership, service and voluntarism. We are proud to celebrate our members past and present, our community partners and agencies and the Houston community we are honored to serve.

The Association of Junior Leagues International Annual Conference brought together Junior League members from across the world for valuable conversations, leadership development and networking opportunities.

While at the conference, the Junior League of Houston was honored to be named one of four Leagues of Distinction and recognized for celebrating our Centennial year.

We are excited to bring new ideas, fresh perspectives and continued passion back to the Junior League of Houston.

Member Spotlight: Rachea Amdemariam ✨

As Pen Pals Project Chair, Rachea Amdemariam has brought warmth, dedication, and thoughtful leadership to a program she has supported for the past four years.

Her welcoming spirit has created a space where volunteers feel connected, supported and valued, while helping strengthen the Pen Pals partnership with three HISD elementary schools.

As Rachea transitions into sustainerhood at the end of this League year, we’re incredibly grateful for her service, leadership and the meaningful impact she has made on the Junior League of Houston and our community.
