A Celebration Weekend!

If you are entered in agility this weekend for the Lone Star ECS trials at Dog Gone Fun (14-15-16 NOV) join in the celebrations.

Saturday, there will be a MACH party for “Blessing” thrown by Betty C. Congratulations Betty and Blessing!

On Sunday, the Lone Star Club will offer a make-your-own sandwich bar with chips. For dessert, we will have a cake to celebrate the Conformation Championship of “Wyatt” owned by one of our hard-working club members – Sandra M.

Greetings Everyone - I thought Iwould bring you up to date on a few things.

1. NRG 2026 - I am getting ready to apply for the two shows. They will be Concurrent Specialties on Thursday and Saturday. Apparently the AKC is moving very slowly on approvals and we need to get the applications in.

2. I did take a poll of club members that were in Belton regarding trophies for the two shows. We had quite a few of the metal art pieces that Deb M brought back from the 2025 ECSCA National Specialty. So those will be the prizes for one Specialty. The second will be pieces from the Stone Pony Pottery for the larger prizes and garden flags with orginal photos from Becky P collection. In order to fund these trophies we are going to ask for sponsorships this year. We have not done that in quite some time but we will give it a try for 2026. Be on the lookout for that information. The first draft of the Premium is due in February.

3. Agility for 2025 - One trial left and that is coming up quickly! The 14-15-16 of November. This event will be held at Dog Gone Fun Agility in Magnolia. The Committee/Volunteers for that event are Connie H, Vonda S, Sandra M and Ron B and Terri B
Thanks to Connie H , Vonda S, Rene F, Shelby F and Jerald K for help with the trial last weekend at Top Dog Training. That was a fund raiser for the ECSCA.

4. Continuing on the agility theme.....Connie is the Chair for the 2026 National Specialty Agility and has asked me to post the following for everyone:
Hi All!
I am the trial chair for the agility portion of the National Specialty next May in St. Louis. I want to show our appreciation for our volunteers and have a worker raffle since we won't be giving out vouchers. I'm looking for donations of items to put in the raffle. It does not have to be dog related, having a variety of items will make it fun. For example, Teri W is donating some of her books with her autograph. So, If you have something you bout and never used it and won't this is you oppotunity to put it to good use. Gift cards are another good idea.
Please let me know if you are interested in donating. I will be in Houston many time beofore then and at different shows and can collect the items.
Thank you for conisidering helping out!
Connie

I am sure we can come up with a few things for Connie's raffle!

5. Continuing with the National Specialty - The Show Committee has asked Clubs to donate a basket for the basket raffle. If anyone is interested in co-ordinating this please let Addi P know.

6. The Club normaly donates money to each National Specialty - a donation for Hospitality and for Breed trophies and Performance trophies. In the past we have donated 250.00 to each area. I think Purina will be expensive for hospitality because they are strict about no outside food. My suggestion would be to donate 1000.00 - with 500.00 to hospitality and 250.00 to breed and performance trophies. Someone will need to make a motion and we then can vote on this.

That is all for me!
Terri

Greetings everyone - I hope you have recovered from NRG! It was a very busy week.
Congratulations to all the winners. I know there were several new Champions and at least one Grand Champion over the course of the week.
Well Done!
We also saw an uptick in entries - many have indicated that was the result of offering two Specialties. There was a solid 5 points in bi***es up until the last day. Yahoo!

It was nice to see entries from out of state as well. Lets hope they will be back next year! Hospitality and good Sportmanship was on full display....WELL DONE!

The annual meeting was held on Wednesday after judging and the slate submitted by the Nominating Committee was voted in. The slate is as follows:
President - Terri Burrows
Vice President - Addi Pittman
Secretary - Deb Mauterer
Treasurer - Sandra Marr
Board - Anna Staley and Sally Elkins

Sandra Marr gave the current Treasurer's report. A motion was made by Sandra Marr to donate 750.00 to the Texas A & M Veterinary Emergency Team that has been deployed to the Texas Hill Country. The emergency team cares for and treats animals found in need as well as the working canines assisting in the search for survivors. Seconded by Connie Hinton. Motion Carried.

Addi Pittman gave an update on the state of research into AIHA (Autoimmune Hymolytic Anemia) and Addison's disease. Full details will be in an ECSCA Newsletter as well as an article on bites. ECSCA Newsletters have tons of excellent information!

The consensus was to carry-on with a Concurrent Specialty with NRG in 2026. We will have a look at the all breed panel when posted by Houston KC. We are certainly able to bring in 1 judge - 2 if necessary but that will get expensive if there is not another club to share the expenses. Please submit your judge and sweeps suggestions to Addi. This will be used as back-up if Houston does not have a judge we wish to use for at least one of the Specialties. We also need Sweeps suggestions - we do not pay Sweeps judges.

The trophies this year were outstanding! Thanks to Addi - Deb - Ashleigh - Jan and Nancy for putting it all together! We have a head start on next years trophies as Deb brought back several items from the 2025 National. They are lovely pieces and Chereen Nawrocki can arrange for additional items if needed. There are wrought iron EC garden stakes, leash hooks, welcome signs and ribbon racks.

It is not too late to volunteer for our remaining 2025 events:
Agility - 17-18-19 OCT at Top Dog Training in Helotes TX - This is an ECSCA event
Agility 14-15-16 NOV at Dog Gone Fun Agility in Magnolia, TX This is a Lone Star Event

Looking Forward to 2026 - Here are the Agility events:

2-3-4 JAN - Dog Gone Fun......Lone Star Trial
20-21-22 FEB Dog Gone Fun....Lone Star Trial
26-27-28 JUN Dog Gone Fun.....ECSCA Trial
16-17-18 OCT Top Dog - Helotes - ECSCA Trial
13-14-15 NOV Dog Gone Fun - Lone Star Trial

Looking for a Chair for any of the above events.
Connie has volunteered for February...thank you!

These events are fund raisers so your help is much appreciated.

A huge shout out to everyone that helped at the Specialties last week. First of all thanks to everyone who entered! Lots of first time attendees - we hope you enjoyed the shows. Entries were at a record high and there were majors - majors - majors!
Congrats to all that finished dogs - please post of a pic of the new CHs or GCHs in the comment field.

These shows require teamwork! The embroidered towels and grooming stool seat covers were done by Addi. The rest of the trophies were handled by Deb, Ashleigh, Jan, Sandy and Nancy. Penny and Connie delivered the trophies to the ring each day. Penny also handled the after show hospitality. Ring stewards were Becky M, Yvonne, Andrea and Ron. Thanks to Becky P for taking care of the judge's gifts. Thank you Dagmar for making the bait for both shows, it was a hit.
Thanks to everyone that helped make the shows a success!
