Dissolution Statement of the Texas Gulf Coast Bull Terrier Club
Since its inception in 2005, the Texas Gulf Coast Bull Terrier Club (TGCBTC) has stood as one of the strongest and most influential Bull Terrier clubs in the United States. Over the past two decades, the Club built not only a large and dedicated membership, but also a lasting legacy of achievement, education, and service to the breed.
The TGCBTC hosted a wealth of educational events that spotlighted responsible breeding and ownership, strengthening the bond between breeders, owners, and the community. We organized Specialty shows that consistently drew the largest exhibitor attendance nationwide. Whether held in partnership with the Houston Kennel Club or as independent Specialties, our events became renowned for both their excellence in competition and the unmatched hospitality that defined our club.
We are especially proud of the role we played in supporting the advancement of judges. Many ROM judges achieved their licenses through stewarding and sweepstakes assignments at our shows, while international judges gained opportunities to earn ROM status through our efforts. In addition, the Club distinguished itself by hosting two historic Silverwood weekends in Galveston, Texas—the first in 2015, and again in 2019 for the BTCA’s 50th Anniversary Silverwood, an event that remains unmatched in its success and celebration of the breed.
Perhaps most importantly, in alignment with our mission, the Texas Gulf Coast Bull Terrier Rescue made a profound difference in the lives of dogs and families alike. Between 2012 and 2021, more than 900 Bull Terriers in need were rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed—an accomplishment that stands as one of our proudest legacies.
As we reflect on these accomplishments, we proudly restate our mission statement:
The purpose of the Texas Gulf Coast Bull Terrier Club is to protect and advance the Bull Terrier breed. It is our purpose to encourage the selective breeding of AKC registered Bull Terriers in order to conform more perfectly to the breed standard. It is our mission to promote the health care and testing, training and showing of breed standard animals. Our club is committed to both pet and show quality Bull Terriers. It is also our purpose to educate the public regarding the responsibilities of owning and caring for Bull Terriers and to support the rescue of Bull Terriers in need.
With gratitude to our members, exhibitors, judges, and supporters, the Texas Gulf Coast Bull Terrier Club closes its doors after twenty years of service. We do so with pride, knowing that our mission was fulfilled and our legacy will continue to inspire the Bull Terrier community for years to come.
