We couldn't be more excited to have Cyntoia Brown Long join us for our inaugural Houston Gala! Cyntoia had a difficult start in life. After being trafficked during her early teenage years, at the age of 16, she was arrested for killing a man who solicited her for s*x. She was tried as an adult and was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for 51 years. Her trafficker was never arrested.

A Houston-area man was recently convicted for s*x trafficking. We are grateful for the intervention work that partners like Elijah Rising provide, and we salute the law enforcement partners that successfully prosecuted this case. We're ready to get an emergency safe home open to do our part in serving the victims as they become overcomers!

In August 2021, Frontline Response's Chief Program Officer Jeff Shaw was teaching a course at the Institute for Shelter Care. In attendance was a group of leaders from Elijah Rising, a long-term care program for survivors of trafficking in Houston. Jeff referenced that Frontline was entering a season of expanding its emergency safe home model for s*x trafficking victims nationally, and Elijah Rising CEO Micah Gamboa asked, "How do we get an emergency safe home in Houston?"

That conversation launched a two-year period of planning, praying, dreaming, and casting vision together. Join us on November 2nd for our first ever Houston gala to catch the vision, partner in this life-changing opportunity, and hopefully celebrate the announcement that an emergency safe home for trafficked women is ready to launch in Houston!
