Stock Grill Challenge

Stock Grill Challenge A cook-off that levels the playing field by having all contestants use the same Weber grill for a set time in ribs, brisket, chicken and open categories.

Stock Grill Challenge is a unique event that was conceived to level the playing field for contestants to test their skills against others using the same equipment. All contest entry food will be cooked on Weber grills during a set time period. Contestants will be competing for prizes in chicken, rib, brisket and an open category in which they can turn in any food they choose. All proceeds go to support MD Anderson Center Center.

A special message from Dr. Kanwal Raghav of MD Anderson, expressing gratitude to the supporters of the Stock Grill Challenge. We are incredibly thankful for your generosity and commitment, as the funds raised will be directed to the Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma (MPeM) Research Program led by Dr. Raghav, in memory of Michael T. Wardlaw. As we gather around our Thanksgiving tables this Thursday, let us reflect on the impact of your support and the hope it brings to those affected by this disease. Thank you very much for your years of support.

A very late but heartfelt THANK YOU to all the supporters, contestants, and fans of the 2024 Stock Grill Challenge! We are thrilled to announce that this year’s event raised over $48,000 to support Dr. Kanwal Raghav's MPeM Research Program, targeting Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma.
As we’ve said so many times before, this event would not be possible without the incredible help of so many dedicated individuals and our enthusiastic teams!
A special thanks to:
- Our judges, who generously took time out of their day;
- Lydia Holland, Erica Motter Wetherell, Ellen Barrett, and Doug Myers, who tirelessly manned the merch booth;
- Our friends and families, who came out and supported the event;
- And the amazing Pealor sisters, who have kept the machine running for so long, along with Beth Dudley.

We deeply appreciate every single one of you who helped make this event a success. Thank you for your unwavering support and for joining us in making a difference! See you next year!

Every year, the Stock Grill Challenge (SGC) selects a vital cause to support through MD Anderson. This year, we're rallying behind the MPeM Research Program led by Dr. Kanwal Raghav, Associate Professor in GI Medical Oncology at MD Anderson. All donations to SGC will be directly allocated to this impactful cause.

This Saturday, we'll be grilling and selling T-shirts and wristbands to raise funds and awareness for Dr. Raghav’s groundbreaking work on Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma (MPeM)—a rare, aggressive, and deadly abdominal cancer that urgently needs more research, better pre-clinical trial models, and new treatments to stop its progression.

In addition to supporting this vital research, we’re dedicating this year’s event to the memory of Michael T. Wardlaw who passed away from MPeM earlier this year at 48 years old. Michael was a husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, as well as one of the original members of the Limp Brisket Cooking team of the SGC. Michael was also a pledge brother to Douglas Chamberlain, Hugh Ramsey, Britton Holland, and Wes Skelton of the University of Texas Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Your contribution will help Dr. Raghav in his mission by advancing trials to push forward new immunotherapy treatments
Innovative approaches to tackling this aggressive disease. Join us this Saturday to support groundbreaking research at MDA and honor Michael’s memory. Together, we can help bring hope to those battling MPeM.
