CAIR TEXAS-Houston CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims. The national headquarters for CAIR is in Washington, D.C.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit grassroots advocacy and civil rights organization. and there are over 20 affiliated CAIR chapters across America. The Houston chapter was formed in December 2002 and we opened the doors to our office in February 2003. CAIR-Houston works with corporations, schools, universities and government agencies, providing them with tr

aining materials about Muslim religious practices, conducting workshops and seminars. CAIR-Houston representatives regularly appear on KPRC-TV (NBC 2), HTRK-TV (ABC 13), KHOU (CBS-11), KRIV (FOX-26), News 24 Houston, The Houston Chronicle, The Houston Press and other local, state and national media outlets. We regularly participate in interfaith and civic dialogues with organizations dedicated to preserving America’s legacy of social justice. CAIR-Houston's dedicated staff, board members and volunteers work to defend the community's legal and constitutional rights in the workplace, schools, federal agencies and local government. CAIR will continue to serve as a leader in the Houston Muslim community by striving to improve relations between Houstonians of all races, religions and cultures.

🚨 At the 2026 Texas GOP convention in Houston, Muslim delegates faced open hostility and efforts to push them out simply because of their faith.

In a join statement, CAIR-Texas and CAIR Action Texas said:

"What we witnessed at the convention was a dangerous normalization of anti-Muslim hate that undermines the foundational American principles of religious freedom and democratic representation. Texas is our home. Texan Muslims, like all Texans, have an inherent right to participate in our democracy. Weaponizing conspiracy theories and pushing platform language that selectively restricts the religious liberties of one faith group fundamentally undermines the rule of law and the constitutional liberties of all Texans. Hate and exclusion are not winning strategies.
"We call upon all elected officials, regardless of political party, to stand on principle and publicly condemn this toxic rhetoric. Leaders from across the political spectrum must make it clear that religious bigotry and the institutional targeting of public servants and grassroots residents have absolutely no place in Texas politics."

Join us for an official Harris County Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar (VDVR) certification training led by a Harris County Tax Office representative. Walk in energized, walk out certified. 🎓

📅 June 16th | 🕕 6:00 PM
📍 River Oaks Islamic Center

No experience needed — U.S. citizenship required. Once certified in Harris County, you can present your certificate to any other Texas county’s voter registrar to receive certification there too, no re-examination or additional training required.
