Housing Alliance HTX is a public housing agency and unit of government, affiliated and performing essential governmental functions of the U.S. The agency operates and manages its housing developments to provide decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing to low income, elderly, and disabled individuals and families, and also maintains contractual arrangements with HUD to manage and operate programs funded with development grants, federal monies, and rental income.

At Housing Alliance HTX, we believe residents are at the heart of creating strong, connected communities—and our Council of Presidents is a powerful example of resident leadership in action.

Each of our community properties has elected Resident Council boards who help represent their neighbors, elevate resident voices, and strengthen communication within their community.

Together, the presidents of each of these councils, combine to make up our Council of Presidents. 💙

Today, we’re taking a moment to say THANK YOU to these dedicated resident leaders for stepping up, serving their communities, and helping make sure residents have a voice in the places they call home.

🎒 Backpacks packed. Smiles everywhere. Ready for a great school year! 📚✏️

Housing Alliance HTX was proud to partner with our properties for Back-to-School events across our communities, helping students and families start the year prepared and excited for what’s ahead.

Together, we distributed more than 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies to students! 💙💚

These events are about more than just backpacks—they’re about investing in our young people, supporting our families, and helping open doors to brighter futures.

We’re grateful to our property teams, resident councils, partners, volunteers, and everyone who helped make these events possible. Because of you, children received new shoes, books, groceries, household supplies, and more, all while having a blast closing out the summer!

Here’s to a year full of learning, growth, big dreams and new opportunities! 🎓✨

Today marked an exciting milestone as we celebrated the groundbreaking of Trinity East Village Senior—a transformational affordable housing community that will help seniors in Houston’s historic Third Ward age in place with dignity, stability, access to supportive services, and hope.

This 90-unit development represents more than new housing. It reflects a shared commitment to preserving affordability, preventing displacement, and investing in the people and neighborhoods that make our city stronger.

We were honored to celebrate alongside Mayor John Whitmire, community leaders, faith partners, housing advocates, and residents who helped make this vision a reality.

Thank you to everyone whose partnership and dedication brought us to this important day.

The work continues, but today we paused to celebrate a community truly working together to be the change for good.

The Housing Alliance HTX Public Housing Waitlist application period is now closed.

Thank you to everyone who applied. Approximately 56,000 applicants submitted applications for waitlists at eight public housing communities across Houston, highlighting the significant need for affordable housing in our region.

What’s next?
🏠 A randomized lottery will be conducted to determine placement on the public housing waitlists.

📧 Applicants will be notified of their waitlist status by the end of July via the email associated with their RentCafe account.

✅ Applicants already on the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist who submitted the required consent form will be placed on the public housing waitlists based on the date and time their completed consent form was received and will not participate in the lottery.

In observance of Independence Day and the celebration of America’s 250th Birthday, Housing Alliance HTX offices will have adjusted office hours this week. 
 
As we commemorate our nation’s history and celebrate 250 years of resilience, freedom, and progress, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday with family and friends.
 
Our offices will reopen for regular business hours Monday, July 6th at 8:00am.

Housing Alliance HTX is inviting residents, program participants, community partners, and the public to review and provide feedback on our FY 2027 Public Housing Agency (PHA) Plan and Moving to Work (MTW) Supplement.
