✈️ SEPTEMBER: DESTINATION - FOREVER HOME 🐾

September was a BIG travel month for our Destination Rescue Dogs crew. Twenty three lucky pups officially checked out of Texas and checked into their forever homes all across the country. 🏡❤️

Every one of these dogs had a journey. Some started out scared. Some needed medical care. Some needed to learn that people could be trusted. Some simply needed someone to see them and say, Yep. That’s my dawg.

Now, they’re sleeping on furniture they probably weren’t invited onto. And most importantly they’re officially living their best lives.

We couldn’t make these journeys happen without the incredible people who keep saying YES.

Today we took Ozzy to the vet, and what we learned made us sick to our stomachs.

Our veterinary team confirmed these wounds are almost certainly human inflicted. No ringworm. No mange. This sweet, six month old puppy was bound by his legs and left to starve.

Let that sink in. Someone purposely did this to him.

We wish we could say foster offers poured in yesterday when he was facing euthanasia. They didn’t. And honestly, that part is hard. We cannot keep saving dogs without people willing to open their homes.

But our small circle showed up just like they always do 🥹 The same people who help us piece together a plan, week after week, so another dog gets to live. We are incredibly grateful for them. We just wish that circle were bigger. Imagine the lives we could save.

But for now, we’re focusing on to the good: Ozzy is safe. No more hunger. No more cruelty. No more wondering whether anyone is coming to help.

From here on out, he gets love, care, and the chance to be a puppy.

Thank you to everyone who rooted for him, donated toward his care, and continues to stand with us. Ozzy deserved better from the very beginning and we’ll make sure he gets it.

6 MONTHS OLD. 17 POUNDS. SCHEDULED TO BE EUTHANIZED TOMORROW 10/6.

Ozzy has been failed by humans. He’s heartbreakingly thin and covered in wounds on his hind legs and ribs. Whatever his first six months looked like, they weren’t kind.

We want to save him but we need a local Houston foster and pledges for his medical care.

** Fosters have to be local so we can ensure he gets the care he needs by our trusted veterinary teams**

✨ Adopt Bailey ✨

Last week Bailey was scheduled to be euthanized, and this week she is loving going for walks and exploring with her foster family. Given her hard start to life the world can still be a little spooky to her but she is getting braver every day . At home, she is perfectly happy relaxing on her bed with a toy or bone to chew on. She’s doing amazing with potty training, loves other dogs, and is overall just a really good girl. She is surprisingly calm and easygoing for her age. She's got an old soul.

Of course, she is still a puppy, so if you leave something particularly delicious on the counter, she's not going to pass on the opportunity for a tasty treat 😅

Bailey has also met kids and does fabulously with them. Rather than bouncing and jumping all over them like many puppies her age, she keeps all four paws on the ground. She may sneak in a couple of face kisses when she gets excited, but she is just a really gentle and sweet soul.

Bailey is looking for a family committed to continuing her training and socialization, including her in their adventures, and loving her for the rest of her life.

Bailey is currently fostered in Houston, Texas, but is available for adoption around the country.

😬 ADOPT JACK 😬

This handsome dude is an absolute hoot. Jack is kind of hard to put into words, but the best way we can describe him is: he is STOKED to be alive, and he brings that energy right into your home.

Face kissies. Arm lovie nibbles. Fetch. Hippity hops. Full-body enthusiasm. A huge teethy grin. Lap sits. All of it.

Jack had a hard start to life and was rescued from a rural shelter outside of Houston. He thought he’d hit the jackpot when he was adopted all the way to Canada… only to be returned less than a week later because his adopters found out they were pregnant. 🤨

So this time, we aren’t playin’.

We’re looking for Jack’s ride or die. Best friend till the end. The person who looks at this goofy, wildly happy dude and says, “Yep. I’m Obsessed…You’re mine forever.”

Because Jack has once in a lifetime soul dog written ALL over him, and we’re not accepting an adopter looking for anything less. He is a medium energy guy and unlike some cattle dogs he does have an off switch. He’s rad.

🆘 Sugar Ray is schedule to euthanized 9/29. We need a Houston area foster to save his life 🆘

Sugar cries every time he’s put back in his kennel. 💔

He’s 5 years old. He’s scared. He’s confused. And without a foster, he will be euthanized tomorrow.

We want to save him, but we CANNOT do it without somewhere for him to go.

Happy Dolly Parton Day! 💕✨

Around here, we’re pretty big fans of Dolly not just for the big hair, rhinestones, and absolute commitment to sparkle, but because she’s spent her life leading with kindness, generosity, and a whole lot of love for animals.

The world could use a little more Dolly energy: love big, give when you can, be kind to animals, and leave things a little better than you found them.

Some of our adoptable Destination Rescue pups decided the best way to honor her was to channel their inner Dolly Pawton. And frankly, they understood the assignment. 😂💎🐾

✨💕Dolly Adoption Update! ✨💕

We’ve been running around like crazy ladies over here, and we know we leave a lot to be desired when it comes to social media adoption updates.

Honestly, we’re pretty dang proud that we’ve managed to keep up with our monthly adoption posts this year! But we know you’re following along, and you want all the deets on your favorite pups and their happily ever afters. So, we’re going to try to share a little more over the next few months.

And today, we’re talking about Dolly!

Who remembers Dolly, the golden girlie that Stephanie and Amber picked up from BARC back in May? She was 5 years old when her owners dumped her at the shelter. 💔

Well… Dolly had a MILLION applications. Okay, maybe not literally a million, but it sure felt like it! There were SO many wonderful families interested in her that choosing who to contact was incredibly difficult.

We initially chose a family without another dog. At first, Dolly didn’t seem to care much one way or another about other dogs, and the family seemed like a wonderful fit. But after meeting her virtually, they ultimately decided to pass.

No biggie. We actually encourage adopters to pass if they aren't 110% sure.

But now we know why, because Dolly was meant to have a dog sibling. And not just any dog sibling… a big, floofy brother to nap with. Their favorite shared hobby.

In June, Dolly made the trip to New Jersey, where her forever family was waiting for her. And since then? She has settled in AMAZINGLY.

Dolly and her new brother, Archer, weren’t exactly sure about each other at first. But her new mom promised to give them time, and she did just that. Slow introductions. Leashed hangouts even in the house. Pack walk after pack walk.

And then, one day…BAM. They woke up and apparently decided, Ohhh you’re my sibling now.

We recently got this update:
“She is doing great!! She’s just as huggable as her foster promised. Her and Archer finally hitting it off greatly too!”

Dolly’s family had recently lost their previous dog, Luna, and there have been little signs along the way that make them feel like Luna somehow helped send Dolly their way. Like their shared disgust for the one food they both refuse to eat: green beans.😂

We couldn’t have written a better ending for this sweet girl.

Dolly found her people. She found her floofy brother. And she found exactly where she was meant to be. ❤️

A huge thank you to Dolly's amazing foster mama Nicola, and Christine and fam for welcoming this gorgeous Texas girl into your family.
