Yesterday, we celebrated International Women’s Day. Today, we spotlight the mental health side of leadership growth.

Women are nearly twice as likely to experience anxiety disorders. In leadership environments, where visibility, responsibility, and performance pressure intersect, intentional support matters.

In the Jaycees, leadership development can strengthen mental health by:

- Strengthening confidence through experiences
- Providing structured community & connection
- Creating safe environments to practice new skills
- Teaching boundaries & delegation
- and so much more!

Sustainable leadership supports mental health.

A single gathering sparked a movement that continues to shape leaders more than a century later.

On January 21, 1920, young leaders from 30 cities gathered at the Mission Inn in St. Louis, Missouri to form what would become the United States Junior Chamber. United by a belief in age-based leadership and service, they elected Henry Giessenbier Jr. as the first president and set a bold vision for the future.

At the first convention later that year, Giessenbier challenged young leaders to recognize the responsibility in their hands and to build an organization dedicated to creating a greater nation.

More than a century later, that challenge still stands. Founders Day is a reminder that the legacy of JCI USA continues through leaders who are willing to step up, take action, and create meaningful impact in their communities today and into the future.

Ready to be part of what’s next? Get involved with JCI USA, connect with your local chapter, and help shape the future of leadership in your community.
