Here in Southwest Louisiana, these are the faces we stand beside. These are the children who show incredible strength through treatments, hospital stays, surgeries, uncertainty, and days when simply getting out of bed is a victory.

What does childhood cancer mean?

Childhood cancer means a child trading playground days for hospital stays.

It means parents learning medical words they never wanted to know.

It means siblings wondering when life will feel normal again.

It means scans, treatments, needles, surgeries, fear, tears — and children showing strength beyond their years.

For some families, it means ringing the bell and celebrating another chance at life. 💛

For others, it means learning how to carry their child’s memory for a lifetime. 🦋

A Parent’s Love Never Ends

They say time heals,
but they never tell you
that a parent’s heart keeps counting the moments
their child should have been here.

We carry birthdays that never came,
dreams left unfinished,
and memories that became our greatest treasures.

We smile through tears,
speak your name with pride,
and love you with a love
that death could never silence.

To the world,
you may be gone.
But to me,
you are in every sunrise,
every gentle breeze,
every quiet prayer,
and every beat of my heart.

This July, we honor every mother and father
who wakes each day
choosing courage over despair,
hope over hopelessness,
and love over loss.

Because grieving a child
is not something we “get over.”
It is love that continues
