We had an excellent time at Camp Mabry’s “Over There 1918” last weekend. Representing the 1st Royal Highlanders during the hundred days offensive. We took to the field both Saturday and Sunday with our Lewis gun section, demonstrating the small unit tactics and principles that the British army learned through 4 years of war.

Now on to the Museum of the American GI’s “Living History Weekend” March 21st&22nd

We had an excellent time last weekend at the Museum of the American G.I. for their Hands on History event! There we displayed kit and uniforms of the 1st battalion in both 1914 and 1918. We are looking forward to our two March events; “Over There!” at Camp Mabry, Austin, and “Living History Weekend” back at The Museum of the American G.I., College Station.

We’re looking forward to this coming weekend’s event!

Happy Hogmanay from us to you!

Normally we’re trying to keep straight faces, but here are some less than serious faces from the past year of events! We’re excited to get out in 2026 and show off updated and new kits, along with seeing friends and other familiar faces again!

We had an excellent time at the Museum of The American GI last weekend for their Living History Weekend. Of note was an original Lewis gun as part of our display, and Annie the Corgi went along for a ride on our Sergeant’s back! We certainly had an excellent weekend and are looking forward to more events with the museum!

You’re probably wondering what we’ve been up to these past few months, busy is the answer!

We’ve been attending events in both Texas and Oklahoma, sharing the story of the 1st Royal Highlanders, in not just 1918 anymore, but to coincide with the 110th anniversary of the outbreak of war our 1914 impressions for the first time! We look forward to what’s to come in the New Year and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy Hogmanay!

Last weekend, some of our unit members attended the Museum of The American GI for their annual Living History Weekend. Here the unit put on our updated and revamped display of the 1st Royal Highlanders (Black Watch) during the closing stages of the late war. The public was phenomenal and we appreciate everyone that came out that weekend, the museum for putting on the event, and our fellow reenactors for making it a fun time!

Last weekend two of our members attended the Wings Over Houston Airshow in concert with other members of the South West Great War Association. Excellent weather to start off the event season, and the solar eclipse was a sight to see!
