Over 40? Us too.

Rucking works differently for us. After 40, your body's relationship with training changes. Often, it's in ways that most fitness programs aren't designed around. Recovery can take longer and your connective tissue adapts more slowly than muscle does. Even hormonal shifts affect how your body responds to high intensity work. It requires a more intelligent approach.

With rucking, the weight is progressive. Unlike running and the high impact forces on joints, rucking distributes the weight across your whole body your connective tissue can better manage. You develop better cardiovascular endurance and strength without the injury risk that can come with higher intensity exercise.

With rucking, the aerobic demand is sustained. Think L*D: Long Slow Distance. That movement builds mitochondrial density (and we all know that's the powerhouse to the cell LOL) and aerobic capacity that complements your different recovery needs.

High intensity training requires motivation that can be seriously hard to sustain consistently over years. Rucking just requires showing up and then moving with some weight. It's much more sustainable and produces the long-term changes that improve how your body feels and functions.

PATHFINDER has always built programs around consistency, effort, and intelligence. It is not the easy path. But it's the one that helps your body last through the long haul.

Every step you take under ruck weight is moving you in the same linear direction -- forward. When you're rucking, your posterior chain works hard, your aerobic system develops, and your feet and ankles adapt to sustained effort. These make you a stronger and more capable athlete.

But when you're rucking, your lateral stabilizers, the muscles that control side-to-side movement, protect your knees on uneven terrain, and keep your hips from compensating when you get tired, are largely along for the ride.

Strong stabilizers make the difference between maintaining good posture while you're rucking. Otherwise, you begin compensating from that weakness that will eventually become an injury.

Knowing this, when I developed BUILD, I wanted to make sure those weaknesses were addressed directly. Every program cycle includes lateral strength work built specifically around what ruckers need -- band walks, lateral step-downs, single-leg stability work, and hip and glute movements that protect your knees and keep your stride efficient mile after mile. This work also helps prevent back pain. When you're using your legs and glutes more fully, you're protecting your low back from taking the brunt of the weight.

Let's be real.

If you've been away from training, the first week back is gonna to feel harder than you remember. Bodies adapt fast though, and time passes whether you're training or not. Might as well be training.

Class 049 starts August 1. It's the next PATHFINDER program cycle, now with Basecamp built in -- our community platform that lives inside the Log, off Facebook, with no algorithm deciding who sees what.

Start Today if you're ready now. Links in bio.

"BUILD has become the backbone for my ruck training. It has given me the overall strength to support my rucking goals. I am the strongest I have been yet and it has kept me injury free and mentally ambitious." -- Channing

PATHFINDER BUILD is our newest program. It's a 90-day strength system that runs alongside any PATHFINDER program and integrates directly into our logging platform. https://pathfinderrucktraining.com/products/pathfinder-build

We built BUILD for ruck and endurance athletes who know strength matters but need more structure to make it stick. If you've been burned by programs that demand too much, ignore recovery, or make you feel behind before you've even started, BUILD was built specifically for you.

In July 1776, a new nation, built on courage, conviction, and an unbreakable belief in freedom, declared its independence.

This month, we're honoring that legacy through strength, discipline, and unity with our Stars & Stripes 1776 July Monthly Mission, sponsored by The Vitamin Shoppe.

Complete:

🇺🇸 17 Push-Ups
🇺🇸 76 Air Squats
🇺🇸 20-Minute AMRAP

Then finish with 250 Jumping Jacks in honor of America's 250th birthday year.

Every rep is a reminder that freedom isn't free.

Honor the spirit of 1776.
