Growing to Give! 🌱
Last weekend in partnership with County Judge KP George, Commissioner Dexter L. McCoy, Fort Bend County Parks, Health & Human Services, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, and Fit Fort Bend, we hosted a “Gather and Grow” event at the Kendleton farm to celebrate the new African American Heritage Monument and Park, bringing the community together around health, wellness, and resilience. 🌱
Residents and guests enjoyed a farm-fresh lunch from Chef Chris Williams and Courtney Grigsby, and harvested fresh produce to take home.
As Fort Bend continues to face high food insecurity, Lucilles 1913 is committed to providing relief to the community.
This is all apart of our mission of building a vertically integrated ecosystem that combats food insecurity, reduce waste, and empower underserved communities through sustainable farming, education, and community engagement!
We have two upcoming events thanks to the generous partnership with the Houston Food Bank, Gordon’s, and Chefs Produce.
Upcoming efforts include:
• Nov. 21: Donation of 2,600 lbs of produce to Sunnyside’s Anna Dupree Community and Wallip in 3rd Ward.
• Nov. 22: Fresh produce distribution for 500 Fort Bend residents. 🌾
