We meet on Monday nights from 7:30pm to 9pm at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Houston, TX. Mark Episcopal church has one Scouting program for two troops: Troop 211(Boys) and Troop 1211(Girls). Each troop has its own Scoutmaster. The Scoutmasters work together to deliver a single program with shared resources which include adult leader support and equipment. Both troops attend the same campouts, whe
re they have separate sites but collaborate on activities and developing scouting skills. Troop activities may include: troop meetings, day hikes, service projects, patrol activities and campouts. A troops' outdoor program is a main attraction for most scouts. Our troops strive to provide a variety of outdoor camping experiences, approximately one per month, which are often coordinated with the advancement and merit badge programs. Summer Camp is usually in June. The troops alternate among different Scout campsites in the country (Camp Emerald Bay, San Isabel Scout Ranch and Camp Daniel Boone among others). These camps provide great opportunities for Scouts to advance, learn new skills, practice leadership, grow as a Scout and generally have fun! Dates are reserved well in advance. The troops also provide High Adventure activities during the year. Requirements for participation will vary depending on the activity, but participation is usually limited to
Scouts who are 14 years and older and who have completed 8th grade and have reached the rank of First Class. Some of the High Adventure sites previously visited have been Philmont Scout Ranch, Florida Sea Base and Guadalupe Peak, TX among others.
