We're delighted to announce that Border Collie Save & Rescue (BCSAVE) BCSAVE is returning to the 30th Austin Celtic Fest and Highland Games, November 7–8, 2026!

Border Collies have a rich heritage in the Scottish Borders, where their remarkable intelligence, agility, and natural herding instincts made them invaluable working companions. Today, they're beloved for their loyalty, boundless energy, and extraordinary personalities!

BCSAVE is an all-volunteer, nonprofit rescue organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding loving homes for Border Collies and Border Collie mixes throughout Central and North Texas. Through foster homes, veterinary care, rehabilitation, and careful adoption matching, these dedicated volunteers give deserving dogs a second chance at a happy life.

FOSTER NEEDED FOR PUREBRED 8 YO MALE!

Henry is a purebred 8 year old male who is being surrendered due to a family break-up. Currently in Louisiana near New Orleans, we expect to get Henry to the Houston area this weekend.

One of our volunteers met Henry and said he acts like a typical ball-crazy BC, but much younger than his 8 years. He is great with people and previously lived with another dog with no issues. We are moving him to a temp foster to get more information on how he does with other dogs.

SHELTER PUPS IN NEED OF FOSTER IN THE DFW (OR TEXAS) AREA!

Luke (43 lbs, approx 1 YO, white mask w/ freckles) and Rooster (60 lbs, approx 1 YO, no mask) are guests with one of our shelter partners in Weatherford. The shelter (like so many others) is full, and we've been asked if we can assist with these two guys.

Both are dog and people friendly (we don't know about cats). Luke is heartworm negative but sadly, Rooster is heartworm positive and would need someone who could take him through fast kill heartworm treatment (which we would pay for).

FOSTER NEEDED!

Baylee is a sweet, playful, dog and people friendly pup who was surrendered to the shelter a few weeks ago. She's about a year old and 40 lbs. She's currently in a temporary foster home in the Fort Worth area, but is looking for a longer term foster who can take her to the vet to get spayed before being adopted.

If you think you could foster Baylee until she finds her furever home, please let us know by emailing Naomi @ bcsave.org. New fosters will need to submit an application and get approved first.

POPEYE SAYS "I AM WHAT I YAM, AND DAT'S WHAT I YAM!!!"

Popeye is looking for his Olive Oyl and a FURever home (or a foster home until then)! Our Popeye may not like spinach, but he LOOOOOVES people, other dogs, and even cats! Around 1 yr old and 55 lbs, Popeye was rescued from a DFW area shelter after being found as a stray. And he's everything you could want in a pup - happy, lots of energy and love for days!

He's currently being short term fostered in the San Antonio area, but needs to move in the next couple of weeks. If we can find a permanent family for him, that would be great! If not, he'd love to hang out a foster with another playful, active dog where he can burn off that puppy energy he still has.

🚨🚨🚨🚨EMERGENCY FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPT HOME NEEDED ASAP!🚨🚨🚨🚨

👉 PREFER NO OTHER PETS IN THE HOME 👈

Willow needs to move from her current foster home to a new foster or foster to adopt home. She does NOT get along with other female dogs, though can coexist with male dogs who put her in her place when needed.

A possible BC/ Pap mix found as a stray in Fort Worth 06/25, she is 1YO, ~23 lbs and 17 1/2 in tall.

Willow is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever met and LOOOOOOVES her people. She is a little cautious at first but quickly forgets and loves everyone and will jump in your lap for long snuggles and kisses.

Her issue is mainly with other female dogs - Willow wants to be the QUEEN and acts out when she doesn't get her way. Otherwise, she loves racing in the yard after squirrels but will also snuggle with you while you watch TV. She is very food/ toy/ tug motivated. She has learned how to scale a 3' fence so 6' fence would be preferred. She is crate/ doggy door trained.

Willow would do best in an experienced home with no other pets that can work with her dog reactivity, or one that is willing to give her the time she needs to get used to any dogs in the family. She is a fun, fantastic pup who just needs a little but of patience (if there are other dogs) to become your best girl!

NEVER FORGET.

In addition to nearly 10,000 emergency rescue workers at the terrorist attack sites, there were also 300 search and rescue dogs who, with their handlers, worked tirelessly to provide comfort, recover bodies and rescue survivors.

Search and Rescue dogs are 1 in a million. BCSAVE is lucky and honored to work with several trainers who assess our HIGH drive dogs to determine if they have the traits necessary to work in fields such as Search and Rescue, Cadaver Recovery, and Wildlife Conservation. If they do, these dedicated folks train for months (if not years) to prepare our rescue pups (and others) for these critical jobs.

We are honored to personally know one 9/11 hero, Bob Deeds of Deeds Canine Connection at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100043562604926. Bob and his dog Kinsey went on their first official deployment to the 9-11 site. Kinsey is no longer with us but Bob and his wife Karen continue to work with dogs to determine suitability for all types of work, as well as general dog training.

Nocona, a 27 lb, year old, bouncy, leggy, lovey BC mix girl needs help getting from her temp foster to her long term foster. Heartworm positive, she's TOOOOOO much of a bouncy BC for the current foster and their older Aussies, so we're moving her to Houston to go through treatment and we need your help!

Option 1: if anyone if driving tomorrow (Sunday 8/16), we can quickly coordinate transport to Houston via Bryan/ College Station (if any Aggies are driving) or Fairfield.

Option 2: Next weekend, either Saturday or Sunday

Alternatively, if anyone wants to FOSTER her through her heartworm treatment (and even potentially adopt her), this girl is ALL Border Collie and LOOOOOOOVES toys. She is also dog, cat *and* chicken friendly!
