Our hearts are overjoyed!!!! Welcome home Mr. Felix!!

May 30, 2020, was the very first-time BCMA introduced our social media audience to one of our amazing and long-time donors and supporters Mr. Felix Ochoa; at which time Mr. Ochoa was in his 43rd year of incarceration within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. On October 18, 1976, Mr. Ochoa was sentenced to death for Capital Murder. Because Mr. Ochoa believed in something greater than himself because he was connected to the source (The Holy Spirit) and believed that God could make possible what appeared impossible, on August 8, 1979, his sentence of death was reduced to murder with a deadly weapon and his sentence was commuted to life. God blessed BCMA to connect with Mr. Ochoa on the John M. Wynne Unit in 2012 where he was serving his life sentence and where man said he would die. BUT GOD!!!!!! Mr. Ochoa understood that they could incarcerate his body, but they couldn't incarcerate his mind, so he made a conscious decision that he was going to make an impact in the world right from the inside of the Wynne Unit. Mr. Ochoa played a pivotal role in assisting BCMA in carrying out the mission and vision of Retired Senior Warden Pittman of tackling the impact of generational incarceration. Mr. Ochoa was one of the very first donors to BCMA and was intentional about ensuring that he sent in a donation to BCMA from his inmate trust fund consistently, without fail.
When asked why he donated to BCMA, he proudly replied " I am proud to be a part of and support BCMA, because I understand how sad and painful it is for kids to feel neglected and cry out for help and no one hears them". Mr. Ochoa reminds us that because of BCMA he was provided with a mentor in Warden Pittman and a family of brothers, he was also provided with an opportunity to bless other kids and let them know that they are loved and cared for. "Perhaps, my donation will help a child feel important and make an impact in the world, I've been in prison for over 40 years and I'm better now than I was when came in and BCMA is a big part of that".

Here we are in 2022, NOBODY BUT GOD

We can hardly contain our excitement! After 38 years our client James Gerry has been granted parole by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.

We embarked on this journey with James and his family 2 years ago. We have traveled to the State Capitol, testified in front of law makers and even spoke to the parole commissioner all in hopes that they would see why James was deserving of his second chance.

Today his second chance came.

Thank you to the entire team!

LaKeidru Blaylock, Sharon McKinney, Attorney Robyn Harlin Parole and James' family! ❤️
