We are proud to announce the speaker for the Austin Chapter statewide meeting in December is Juliette Sterkens.

Audiologist Dr. Juliëtte Sterkens explores how an upcoming technology, Auracast Broadcast Audio, used as part of an Assistive Listening System, will fit into the current FM/RF and Infrared and hearing loop ecosystem of assistive listening technologies. How can consumers benefit from all technologies, even if their instruments are currently non-Auracast-compatible? How to future-proof yourself when purchasing new devices. This practical lecture, “What consumers with hearing loss need to know about Auracast and Telecoils,” will also include a demonstration of using Google Maps to locate hearing-accessible venues, a few practical tips for hearing-access advocacy, and what to do when no access is offered. You will get more from this lecture if you download the Google Maps app for iPhone or Android on your phone and take a minute to read Dr. Sterkens’ most recent article on the Hearing Tracker website: "Auracast is here. Now what?"

Welcome Kevin!
