Lonely, But Never Alone The love of family and friends is always a great source of comfort and joy. To have someone with whom you can share your life is one of God's greatest gifts of grace. No wonder, then, that parting from a loved one fills us with sorrow and loneliness. But remember, you are never alone, because nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ ( Rom. 8:38-39 ). The Lord assures us that He will never forsake us and that He will be with us through all of our days. ( Heb. 13:5 and Matt. 28:20 ) These are promises that you can hold on to and draw courage and strength from in all circumstances, especially when tragedy comes into your life and you are at your most vulnerable. To reaffirm the assurance of God's promises and presence, spend time in His presence in prayer. Share your fears and worries with Him, as well as your loneliness and vulnerability. Christ is not only the Lord of your life, but also your Friend. He chose you to belong to Him through His grace. ( Also read 1 John 3:1 )
