CFC Youth Education Department

Dear friends,

We hope that this message finds you well, and that you are enjoying your summer breaks. It is with regret that our staff must inform you that as of September 2013, The Youth Education Department will no longer be in operation. Due to funding cuts, we will no longer be able to provide tutoring services, college preparation presentations, professional skills presentations, or any office services. I will be taking a position at Genesys Works as Program Coordinator, and students are welcome to contact me there for help with college prep, professional skills, and internships. Tyson has taken on new pursuits, and is currently residing in India. Arturo and Dalila will no longer be available as tutors after the next few weeks.

We are sorry to be delivering this news, and have enjoyed working with each and every one of you this past year. We wish you the best of luck in your futures, and please don’t be a stranger in contacting us! You can reach any of our staff at the following personal e-mail addresses:

It is our last week of Countdown to College! Visit us at Community Family Centers from 1:00- 5:00 pm, including a trip to the Houston Food Bank on Wednesday! In addition, we will be visiting University of Houston on Friday from 10:00 am- 3:00 pm! See you there!

Our department has successfully received the grant for discounted Space Center Houston tickets! Instead of the $18.95 entrance fee, students will only need $5.95 to attend. Please spread the word, and remember to bring extra money if you plan to buy gifts or souvenirs!

Hello!

In order to reduce the costs students will have to pay for field trips, we have changed the activities scheduled for the following dates:

Tuesday, July 16- 1:00- 5:00 pm- Movie Day (No cost- FREE)

Wednesday, July 24- 1:00- 5:00 pm- Space Center Houston (CFC will pay for a portion of this ticket- Reduced Cost TBA)

Thursday, July 25- 1:00- 5:00 pm- Houston Museum of Natural Science (No cost- FREE)

All teaching and education majors workshops have been cancelled.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope this will remove obstacles of cost for each of you.

Van service pick up times for tomorrow's field trip!

We will be visiting HCC Central campus this Friday! Please arrive at Community Family Centers at 10:00 am or be present at one of the following campuses for van pick up:

Waltrip- 9:00 am
Davis- 9:20 am
Milby- 9:30 am

After a tour of the campus, we will be returning to CFC at 3:00 pm. See you all soon!
