Jim's contributions were instrumental in shaping Blue Sky's application for the National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engine grant in 2023, highlighting his steadfast commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in the sector. His dedication to identifying creative solutions and fostering opportunities significantly advances our industry toward a greener and more future.

In addition to his extensive involvement with Blue Sky, Jim holds the position of Director at the Center for Ports & Waterways at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, a Blue Sky Knowledge Partner. Furthermore, his experience as a port director on the Texas coast stands as a testament to his profound insight into the maritime industry. Join Blue Sky on March 13th at 11:30 a.m. CDT to hear from Richard Billings and Zhaojun Wang of the NAS Transportation Research Board (TRB) Marine Environment Committee. This session will focus on:
✔️ The critical role of the TRB
✔️ Strides they are taking within the Marine Environment Committee to enhance and marine transportation
✔️ Opportunities for engagement and contribution

The Marine Environment Committee of the TRB examines environmental performance across transportation systems, including vessel operations, port operations, freight movements along shipping lanes and inland waterways, offshore energy including oil & gas platforms and offshore wind. Members of the group address a spectrum of marine impacts, such as air quality, water quality, energy, ecosystems, underwater and port noise. Billings and Wang will share insight on their current focus: decarbonization and offshore wind.
