Shout out to the kiddos that survived Wyld Ranch this summer!

These young ranchers got hands-on experience with horses and horsemanship while exploring herbs, foraging, and the land around them. From learning how to safely care for and connect with horses to discovering useful plants growing right under their feet, each day offered a chance to learn by doing, exploring, and getting a little dirty along the way. 🫟

I'm def not a "cry it out mama", but there's an age and stage, where kids need to feel a little uncomfortable. There's an age and stage where they need to figure things out on their own. I avoid rescuing them too quickly. The brain grows when it has to sit with confusion and discomfort. Life can be uncomfortable and I don't want it to come as a shock! 😳

We often jump in, give hints too soon, or just give them the answer. It's okay for them to feel discouraged...

But a certain kind of struggle is actually where learning and creativity grow.

Productive struggle—the space where a child doesn’t know the answer yet, feels challenged, and has to think, try, make mistakes, and try again.

I have a strong intuitive desire for my children to be able to figure things out. (Of course, I'm here to support when needed.) I want them to know that I believe they can figure things out.

Some questions to ask:

💭 “What have you tried so far?”
💭 “Tell me what you’re thinking.”
💭 “What’s another way to approach it?”
💭 “I know this feels hard, and I believe you can keep working on it.”

They may say "I can't do it." And I add... "yet".
