recently welcomed educators for a day of learning, collaboration, and hands-on exploration through the Climate Action and Resilience Education (C.A.R.E.) workshop.

From exploring to connecting ideas with real-world challenges, educators had the opportunity to learn, share, and think about how these approaches can come to life in their classrooms.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re highlighting HACER — the Hispanic Association for Cultural Enrichment at Rice University! 💃🏽🎶

Established in 1972, is one of Rice’s longstanding organizations dedicated to celebrating Latinx culture and community through cultural, educational, service, outreach, and social activities.

Recently, HACER brought the Rice community together for a Salsa Dance Workshop in celebration of , creating an opportunity to connect through music, movement, and Latinx culture. ❤️

We’re proud to spotlight organizations across Rice that help celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and communities that make our campus special.

Our 2026–27 participants have been meeting throughout the semester to deepen their content knowledge, explore hands-on, inquiry-based teaching strategies, and learn alongside fellow educators from across the Greater Houston area.

We’re excited to see what these educators bring back to their classrooms and campuses! 🌱

For the first time, all three cohorts came together for a jam-packed day of learning, collaboration, and problem-solving. Students heard from guest speakers Dr. Nguyen and Roy Meszlenyi before teams were announced and students selected the challenges they’ll tackle with support from Rice graduate students.

Meanwhile, teachers kicked off their own research and development process as they began building their lessons.

It was an exciting start to a new year of collaboration, innovation, and hands-on learning! 🔬💡
