Great things happen when partners in care come together. Alzheimer's Association Health System Director Elise Passy joined Dr. Mukaila Raji, Chief of Geriatric Medicine, and Aging in Place Specialist Adele Segel for a photo following Adele's 'Geriatric Grand Rounds' presentation with UTMB.

Her message stuck with everyone in the room: ask older adults and their care partners what makes them happy, what gives them purpose, and what matters most to them. Person-centered care means focusing on what someone can still do, not on what they've lost.

The Alzheimer's Association and UTMB continue working together to improve care for older adults across our community.

Early detection matters. For people living with Alzheimer’s, delayed diagnosis can mean missed opportunities for treatment, care planning, and better health outcomes.

That’s why we met with district staff from Representative Christian D. Menefee's Houston office to advocate for the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act, which would allow Medicare to cover routine blood tests for Alzheimer’s screening. Thank you for taking the time to meet with us and learn more about this critical legislation!

It was a fun day at as Scott “Sugar Bear” Brown shared the story behind his Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge journey and how he’s turning something he loves into something bigger through Do What You Love to End ALZ!

Great visit today at Rep. Brian Babin's Lumberton office! We stopped by to thank him for hosting our advocate, Amy Cansler and to share info on Walk to End Alzheimer's in Beaumont. We also urged him to cosponsor the ASAP Act, which would help Medicare cover early detection blood tests for Alzheimer's and other dementias. More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and as many as half go undiagnosed. Early detection changes everything.

The Landing at Augusta Woods Senior Living , a senior living community in Spring is showing what's possible when a church builds worship around dementia, not around barriers. Houston's Dementia Friendly Church started with one resident who missed going to church.

Now the whole memory care community takes part, each person given a role that fits their abilities. ABC13 Houston spoke with our own Katelyn Martin, who was attending a service, about life after an Alzheimer's diagnosis. Watch the full interview.

The service led by residents is helping people with dementia feel comfortable and connected.
