Reconstruction of a Survivor was birthed from a survivor's need for support through her own journey of breast cancer twenty years ago. The search to find people with similar needs emotionally, physically and spiritually. This longing led her to begin helping others on a one-one-one basis. Colleague, friends, family and others began to refer people to her. It was this work that lead to the creation

of Reconstruction of a Survivor. It was founded in 2007 to reach more people, have a greater impact and give survivors the opportunities to support other survivors. Reconstruction of a Survivor offers support groups for persons diagnosed with breast cancer through its partnerships with healthcare providers, churches and community centers in the greater Houston area and in Lafayette, LA. There are locations in Baytown, Pearland, Houston, Sugar Land, Texas City, Katy and League City.

Jacqueline D. Bryce is a two-time cancer survivor, faith-driven leader, and passionate advocate for healing and hope. Diagnosed with Stage 1B breast cancer in 2016 after a prior battle with thyroid cancer, she completed surgery, radiation, and five years of treatment by 2022. Rather than asking “why,” Jacqueline chose to walk in faith, believing her journey was part of God’s greater purpose.
A proud member of Reconstruction of a Survivor (ROS), Pearland, TX. She now will be serving as a facilitator for a breast cancer survivor support group, in Clear Lake, TX where she encourages women to move from surviving to thriving. Jacqueline is also a patient advocate, lay chaplain, and active member of her church’s pastoral care ministry. Through her testimony and service, she empowers others, strengthens community, and continues to give God the glory in every chapter of her journey.

Finding Confidence Again Starts with Giving Yourself Grace.

After a breast cancer diagnosis, so much changes , your body, your emotions, your confidence, and sometimes even the way you see yourself in the mirror. Healing is not only physical; it is emotional, spiritual, and deeply personal.

Learning to feel comfortable in your body again can take time, and that journey looks different for every woman. Some days it may mean resting. Some days it may mean dressing up, showing up, asking for help, or simply choosing yourself again.

Gentle reminders during your healing journey:
• Give yourself permission to heal at your own pace
• Celebrate the small victories
• Surround yourself with support and community
• Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident
• Speak kindly to yourself , your body has carried you through so much.

At Reconstruction of a Survivor, we want every woman to know that confidence after diagnosis is possible. Your journey did not take away your beauty, your strength, or your purpose. 💕

Mama, do you know your breast health baseline?
And does your daughter know hers?

Knowing your baseline means understanding what’s normal for YOU , so you can recognize when something changes. And the best time to start… is before anything ever does.
When you take care of yourself, you show her how it’s done.

Teach her:
✔️ How to do a self-exam
✔️ Why mammograms matter
✔️ That family history is her history too
You can’t spot a change if you don’t know your starting point.

Survivors , this includes you. Your body has changed. Your new normal matters just as much.
Because the greatest gift you can give your daughter is the example of a woman who knows her body — and protects it.

Reconstruction of a Survivor is here to support your whole journey.

Today, ROS partnered with the University of Houston Office of Neighborhoods & Strategic Planning and Health to provide free breast examinations to students and employees at U of H.

Moments like these are about more than access, they’re about education, empowerment, and encouraging individuals to understand their baseline when it comes to their health. Thank you to our volunteers and call the student who were provided a free breast exam and learned their baseline .

Early detection is more than a moment, t’s a conversation. If you have been told you have dense breast tissue, it’s important to understand what that means for your health. Dense breast tissue can make it more difficult to detect abnormalities on a mammogram alone.

That’s why it’s important to advocate for yourself.
In addition to your annual 3D mammogram, speak with your OBGYN about whether a breast ultrasound should be part of your screening plan. For many women, this added layer of imaging can provide greater clarity and peace of mind.

Your health is not one-size-fits-all. Your screening shouldn’t be either.

At Reconstruction of a Survivor, we believe in education, early detection, and empowering women to ask the right questions, because your life matters.

✨ Schedule your screenings.

✨ Know your breast density.

✨ Have the conversation.
