Ephesians 4:11-16 NIV
[11] So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,
[12] to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

God gives us authority and dominion of over the enemy, so we may build the body of Christ

[13] until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Becoming more like Christ and less like ourselves and the world, is maturing Emotionally, spiritually, and mentally

[14] Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.

It is important to mature and try our best to be more like Christ, so we may not be deceived by the devil and its minion and those who try to debunk the truth with lies.

[15] Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

Maturity speaks in love. Firm, yet gentle.

[16] From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

When we fail to mature, we fail in guiding the next generation, and cause harm to others in the process.

Take this word into heart, pray for one another, forgive other's sins, love one another. If you refuse to mature, you are neglecting your purpose in the kingdom of heaven. We must attempt to be more like Christ and do the will of the father.

Matthew 7:21-23 NIV
[21] “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
[22] Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
[23] Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evil doers

Here are the 12 points that Marc Driscoll spoke of on the sermon I saw today on why anger is not something we should be ok with channeling!

•An angry man harms others
1) creates an anxious environment
2) puts fear into his girlfriend or wife damaging intimacy
3) breaks his children or grandchildren damaging legacy
4) sets his daughter up for domineering romantic relationships
5) set his son up to be broken or bullies
6) quickly empties relationship accounts he slowly invested in

•An angry man harms himself
1) is not enjoying the fathers heart
2)is not expressing the love of Christ
3) is not experiencing the fruit of the spirit
4) is harming his health
5) Is lonely and isolated
6) Is often manifesting male depression

Matthew 6:12 NIV
[12] And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Many will say this in their prayers, but very few will truly forgive those who have "Sin against us" "indebted to us" "trespassed us". Learn to love your enemies and forgive one another cause that is what Jesus has called us to do! I'm not saying it will be easy, but I am saying it will be good for you!!

In 1 Peter 4:8 Peter says "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."

Jesus says in John 13:34-35, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Luke 6:35-36, Jesus says, "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”

Matthew 16:24-26 NIV
[24] Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. [25] For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. [26] What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

It's easy to go to one another and talk about what you do for "Your people" but what about the people who have done you wrong?

When you pray the fathers prayer you say "Forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass us" but are you really forgive those who trespass you?

In Matthew 5:43-44, Jesus says, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ [44] But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,"

When you learn to forgive, break prideful chains and you detatch from the pain of the past. Believe me! You will feel free, and renewed!!

Losing a child

‭2 Samuel 12:19-23 ESV‬
[19] But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David understood that the child was dead. And David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” They said, “He is dead.” [20] Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes. And he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. He then went to his own house. And when he asked, they set food before him, and he ate. [21] Then his servants said to him, “What is this thing that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive; but when the child died, you arose and ate food.” [22] He said, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, ‘Who knows whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’ [23] But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.”

I don't know if you have ever lost a child. It may be one of the most painful and destructive thing to happen to you!! But I tell you there is a God who sees your tears fall, and hears your voice shout out in pain.

Staying up late at night, thinking "God, why me? What have I done to deserve this? Why is it that people who could care less for their children, bare children? And I who wanted a child, have been taken the gift of parenthood? Why me?"

In this passage David had served the Lord for many years, He had already slayed Goliath and fought many wars in the name of the Lord. And yet God still allowed him to lose his son.

Even then, David wasn't angry with God, instead, he wept, but he still worshipped. He may have worshipped in tears, and wailing, but he worshipped.

Most importantly he recognized that his child, was in great hands. Hands greater than Uriah's wife. Hands greater than his own hands. Hands greater than anyone who walked the earth. He was in the hand of the Lord! And one day, he would meet up with his child in the heavens, and he would worship God once more, with his child by his side!!

‭Mark 9:36-37 ESV‬
[36] And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, [37] “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”

To receive children doesn't just mean being kind to children, it means raising them up in the Lord, it means to take them under your wing, and teach them right from wrong, it means to not mislead children into the hands of the enemy, and teaching them to turn to God through every trial and tribulation.

Learn to be disciplinary, but loving at the same time.

"Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.” – Proverbs 13:24
