Greetings All: We are sending an update on where we are with our toy drive. We are less than 3 weeks in and have surpassed our initial goal of providing 50 local children with toys for this holiday season. The first picture below in the collage was where we started in October, the middle picture was the first of November and the bottom picture is today! Wow! We’ve had a few drop offs and so many monetary donations come in, which every penny goes towards this cause. Thank you so much to everyone for helping us surpass our goal! We will continue to collect donations through the end of November and plan to deliver the toys the beginning of December. So, if you’d like to donate to this great cause, there’s still time. Hello All-we rolled out our Holiday Toy Drive a little over a week ago and we are half way to our goal!! How amazing is that!!!! The original goal is to have 50 toys to donate to those kids who may not get anything for the holidays. How nice would it be to know that we all made a difference in their life. We are trying to find toys around the $10 price point, so another $250 of donations should help us hit our goal. Please consider donating to this worthy cause. Again, 100% of all donations go directly towards the purchase of toys. We have no overhead, which leads to no cost of our program. Volunteering our time is an honor and a privilege. Please help us get there! Thanks to everyone!

Hi everyone-We are starting our holiday toy drive as part of our giving back mission for The Shanksgiving Back Program. Please help us reach our goal of providing toys to at least 50 kids by donating to one of the following apps:

…To build off of our prior post, we’d like to take an opportunity to further our cause of highlighting some organizations that were instrumental in our son’s cancer journey for September’s Pediatric Cancer Awareness month. It all started at Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, TX where Gavin was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor. The knowledge of these medical professionals and the way they took care of us was paramount.

Dr. KuoJen Tsao saved our son’s life and we will forever be grateful to him and his Team for their brillance, steady hands and excellent bedside manner. The surgery to remove the tumor and left kidney was slated to last 3-4 hours but went on for 5-6 hours due to finding diseased lymph nodes in the area. The tumor was the size of a small nerf football. I’ll never forget seeing him for the first time after surgery; he had 6 IVs with an epidural in his back, received a blood transfusion and had tubes and wires all over. He didn’t fully wake up for a few days and didn’t talk to us for awhile and when he did, he grunted and pointed. We didn’t know what to expect, but we were surely broken and paralyzed and this was only the very beginning of his long journey.

Our mission is to bring awareness to Pediatric Cancer and it’s importance. No one fights alone.

In recognition of September’s Pediatric Cancer awareness month, we’d like to introduce you to our Hero. This is Gavin Shanks, our oldest son, and at 2 years of age, he was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer (Wilms Tumor), which resulted in complete removal of his left kidney and nearby lymph nodes. After grueling surgeries, chemo and radiation, he is now a thriving baseball loving/player, witty, intelligent, hilarious, beautiful soul of a human being. Gavin made it through this difficult part of his life, however there are many children that don’t live to see their next birthday. There’s no word or definition for a parent that has lost a child like there are for orphans or widows. It’s engrained into you for the rest of your life; something you never get over. It’s a devastating thing to watch your child go through something so far out of your control, while you feel so helpless and scared. We are proud of where we’ve been as a family and we are proud of our son for all of the things he’s overcome. This month we will take the opportunity to bring awareness to Pediatric Cancer and some wonderful organizations that have helped us along our journey. 🎗Stay tuned for our upcoming .

Hi everyone,

We are doing so well with your help in filling 10 backpacks for local elementary students. A huge shoutout to everyone who helped us reach our goal! We have just a few items that we need, but know we will reach our goal before school begins. The Shanks children will be pulling together the supplies that are currently on our dining room table, which we refer to as . Again, a huge thank you and we will post more pictures soon. We certainly couldn’t do this without your support. 🎓📚📓

Happy Friday everyone! We are continuing to knock things off the list. 5 pack backs added most recently so a huge THANK YOU to everyone for helping us achieve our goal of 10 backpacks for elementary students.

If you have a chance, please check out our Amazon Wish List below. I’m hoping the kinks have been worked out, as some of you stated you couldn’t see the full list and/or weren’t able to have it delivered directly to us. Should be good to go now. 😁

Check this out! We got our first delivery and that was quick since we shared our Amazon Wish List Friday. We are super excited! Thank you so much!

Remember, if you are out and about (online or in store), please grab an extra school supply for this worthy cause. Again, our initial goal is to help 10 elementary children to give them the necessary school supplies to be successful this school year. New or gently used items are more than welcome. If local, you can drop to us or we can swing by and pick up. We can do this!
