First of all, we would like to thank our loving God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit for providing all the resources necessary for our clinic and medical outreach. These resources allow us to continue our Kingdom building efforts in rural Central America. God is so good!!

Last month our team successfully organized a medical mission to Comayagua, providing life-changing surgeries for six individuals. This group included 5 men and 1 woman, ranging in age from 42 to 72, who underwent cataract surgeries, a hernia repair, and a gallbladder surgery. Each patient was screened at our local clinic in Santa Ana, where they received comprehensive evaluations to ensure they were prepared for the procedures and follow-up care.

The trip was made possible through collaboration with a visiting medical brigade in Comayagua which provided the expertise and facilities for these surgeries. The outcomes were transformative, restoring vision and relieving pain for individuals who otherwise lacked access to such care. Without your generous support, this initiative would not have been possible. Your contributions directly enabled us to coordinate transportation, pre- and post-operative care, and these life-altering procedures.

Attached are photos capturing moments from this mission, reflecting the hope and gratitude of those served. Thank you for continuing to make an incredible difference in our community and spread the Gospel to these patients and to their friends and neighbors upon their return to their villages.

Please say hello to one of HSTSF’s founders, and a pillar of the Houston medical community, Dr. Stephen J. Spann!! 🎉

In addition to being a founder in our organization, Dr. Spann served as the founding dean of the well as Vice President for Medical Affairs at !

Prior to joining UH, Dr. Spann served as Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, and Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch.

He has practiced medicine both here and abroad, and consulted with medical schools, ministries of health, and health care delivery systems in many countries.

We are so grateful to have Dr. Spann as a part of this organization, and we know this community is thankful too!!

Meet Sandra!

Sandra is a wonderful young woman who lives in Santa Ana and suffers from debilitating rheumatoid arthritis. Her mother passed away several months ago and she is now being cared for by her brothers, who are often away for work.

Her mobility is very limited and it is difficult for her to get out of her house, but she is an absolute joy to be around!

Sandra is visited regularly in her home by our staff pastor and is one of the many people who benefits from the services provided by our clinic. A new wheelchair is at the top of her current needs list!
