Join the Tightlines 4-H Club at the FREE NJ Youth Fishing Challenge on Saturday, June 6 at 11 am at the Avalon Fishing Pier. The event is open to all youth under the age of 18...you don't have to be a member of 4-H to join in the fun! The fishing challenge is part of the NJDEP Fish and Wildlife Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs program. Tightlines' event is also sponsored by the Avalon Fishing Club, Moran's Dockside Bait and Tackle, and the Miss Avalon. Sign up today! 4-H Barnyard Buddies Summer Camp, a 4-Day camp August 3 - 6, Open to all youth in grades K-2 at the Cape May County 4-H Fairgrounds. The camp is open to all youth, not just 4-H members.
Participants will meet farm animals, explore the gardens, learn how food grows, create art projects, and meet new friends. The cost to attend is $150. Register at https://forms.gle/WTjAVV4dPDqTbR3w7.

The public is welcome to participate in the new Open Division for non-4-H youth and adults! Registration will take place from 5 to 6pm on Monday, June 13, 2026.
Entries will be accepted in the following categories: Home Preserves, Handwork/Sewing, and Art and Photography. Rosette Ribbon will be awarded for Best in Show for adult and youth entries in each category.
The fee to enter is $2 per item for Kids, 12 and under, and $5 per item for adults. For more information, please call 609-465-5115, ext. 3605.

Save the date for the 9th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony During the 4-H Fair, Saturday, June 18 at 2pm. The solemn event will be a special semi-quincentennial version of our American Flag Retirement Ceremony as we join America in celebrating our nation's 250th Anniversary. The ceremony will include the Cape May County Sheriff’s Honor Guard, patriotic readings, and a six-piece ensemble, part of the John Walters Band providing music.
Veterans and their families and interested community members are invited to attend the Ceremony on June 18 on the 4-H Fairgrounds. For more information, visit https://capemay.njaes.rutgers.edu/4h/fair/.

Congratulations to Brynn Gaynor the 2026 Cape May County 4-H Equestrian of the Year! Brynn Gaynor, 7th grader at Upper Township Middle School, is the president of her 4-H club, the Hy-Riders. She has been in 4-H for eight years since she was a kindergartener. She and her pony, Flower, compete in both English and Western events. Last year she competed at the NJ State 4-H Championship Horse Show where she won Grand Champion in English Working Hunter Pony and placed third in English Hunter Under Saddle Pony and sixth in English Pleasure Pony. In the Western Division, Brynn placed fifth in both Western Halter Mares and Western Pleasure Pony. Brynn will represent Cape May County at the NJ 4-H State Equestrian of the Year Contest in August in the Junior Division. Congratulations, Brynn!

Have unused or broken electronics and electric appliances laying around? Donate them to 4-H! The Cape May County 4-H Foundation, Inc. is collecting all types of electronics and electric appliances, including large items, as part of their e-recycling fundraising program. Profits benefit the 4-H Youth Development Program.
The public is invited to bring your E-Waste to the Lockwood 4-H Youth Center, on the 4-H Fairgrounds, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road, CMCH, NJ 08210 on Saturday, June 27 from 10am to 2 pm.
Please bring anything with a cord, including large appliances but no plastic vacuums or loose batteries to the 4-H Fairgrounds. Large items should be brought to the brown garage at the back of the 4-H Fairgrounds.

New this year, Eco Art Adventures Summer Day Camp for youth in grades 3 through 5 – you don’t have to be a 4-H member to join in the fun. The camp is Monday, August 10 through Thursday, August 13 from 9am to 1pm at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County. The Eco Art Adventures Day Camp will cover science, art, and nature. The Cost is $150 and includes a snack, camp tee shirt, program supplies, and hands-on activities.
