Jr Fair Board Applications
The Jr. Fair Board applications are online. In the attached image is a link, go.osu.edu/fayettejfb or QR code members can use to apply. All details of requirements are in the application, but here are some key bits of information:

Applicants must be a 4-H, FFA, or Girl/Boy Scout member who is at least a current high school freshman, must have completed a project at the Fayette County Fair in 2026, and is in good standing.
Applications will be due Friday, October 30th by 11:59pm. Selections interviews will be Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 5:30-7:00 pm on a drop-in, first-come basis. The selection committee will deem on a case by case basis if returning applicants will be interviewed.

Market Cattle Tag-Ins December 5, 2026.

Mark your calendars! You can refer to the 2026 Fair Book for general guidelines and expectations.
• Exhibitors may tag up to 5 Market Beef animals at the December 5 weigh-in.
• Market Heifers may be tagged and will be shown in Market Beef classes at the Fair with the steers.
• All Market beef are recommended to be 425 ‑ 850 pounds at weigh-in on December 5, 2026.
• Exhibitors may show a maximum of 2 market beef in the regular Junior Fair Market Beef Show.
• All Market Beef must be dehorned, castrated, and healed by weigh-in on December 5, 2026.

University of Minnesota and Ohio State University Extension to Host Sheep and Goat Nutrition Webinar on October 14

University of Minnesota Extension and The Ohio State University Extension have partnered with Purina Animal Nutrition to provide a sheep and goat nutrition focused webinar. The webinar begins at 7:00 p.m. CDT on October 14.

“Fall is an important time to manage our ewes and does as grazing opportunities diminish for most producers,” says Dr. Travis Hoffman, The Ohio State University Extension small ruminant field specialist. “Our forage supply may be in question this year, and supplements or alternative feeds may need to be evaluated for pregnant females prior to lambing/kidding.”

Dr. Patrick Gunn, serves as Senior Nutritionist, R&D, and Technical Solutions for Purina Animal Health, will be leading the discussion evaluating how we can strive to manage our small ruminant females as pregnancy progresses through the fall season. Subpar precipitation across a majority of America makes nutrition a key component of fall management planning for ewes and does.

“Our next year’s lamb and kid crop starts with prenatal development, and preparing our operation for future success,” says Hoffman.
