The mission of the United Way of Fayette County is to unite our community in improving the condition of people's lives. Originally the Fayette County Community Chest, in 1951 the organization became the United Way of Fayette County. Today we partner with 30 health and human service agencies in Fayette County in an effort to make sure that all people have full and complete access to services that will help them grow to their greatest potential.

Today, the world feels a little less bright. 💔

Dolly Parton was more than a legendary singer, songwriter, actress, and entertainer. She was a woman who used her incredible success to lift others up. She reminded us that kindness matters, that giving matters, and that one person really can make a difference.

Through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, millions of children have received the gift of a book every month—opening doors to imagination, learning, dreams, and possibilities. Her belief that every child deserves the opportunity to dream will continue to live on in the lives of those children.

What will the world be without Dolly?

It will be quieter. It will feel a little less joyful. We will miss her unmistakable voice, her humor, her sparkle, and her larger-than-life personality.

But perhaps the greatest tribute we can give her is to keep doing what Dolly did—love people, give generously, encourage children, be kind, and leave the world a little better than we found it.

Her music will continue to play.
Her stories will continue to inspire.
Her books will continue to arrive on children's doorsteps.
And her legacy of love and generosity will continue through all of us.

Thank you, Dolly, for teaching the world that having a big heart is the greatest gift of all.

Rest peacefully, Dolly. Your light will never go out.
