Pizza Pizza Pizza!!!
McNair Mens Mission has been blessed with pizza this weekend! We always have pizza Friday, thanks to Debra Corbell-Grover and First Presbyterian Church of Washington Court House, Ohio. And then today we had 3 drop offs of pizza! Thank you to Chad with Special Olympics, Scott A Lynch and an unknown fella for thinking of us when they had extras! We love our community!

It's with great sadness that we share that our former house manager, Norm Erskine has passed away. Many knew Norm as the fella that used to sit across from Burger King before he came to the mission. I'd frequently stop and try to get him to come to the mission. I'd get weekly calls about him from concerned citizens, but he was one hard headed guy and wouldn't come to the mission no matter how many times I asked him to. Finally one rainy day in October, there he was..."can I stay now, Ms Kellie?". I told him, finally, now I'll quit getting so many calls! Norm loved being at the mission and took good care of it. When I realized it was too hard on him to leave during the day, I gave him a key and made him staff. That really did something for his spirit. To be shown kindness, to have security, and responsibility. When Norm became too ill to be at the mission, we helped him transition to long term care and our Pastor Dan McLean continued visiting him and encouraging him. Norm served the mission well. He'd often send me texts telling me I was his angel and that he loved me. Norm was appreciated and loved by us and will be greatly missed.

We love to share good news with our community. We recently had two guests obtain housing. A little bit of my heart went with the first one. He'd been with us awhile, and was just a pleasure to work with. He worked hard, followed the rules and was given the responsibility of being a staff member. Which meant he helped oversee operations during the time I'm not there. My favorite memory of him was giving him some hard to hear advice. He listened and then walked away to ponder it. He then came back to me and said "Why do you do that? Why do you treat me like I'm your kid? I've never had someone care about me like that before." I'll never forget those words. That's our goal. For our guests to feel like family, so that they can thrive and grow! Thank you to a community that supports us and loves us. We couldn't do it without you!

Once again the mission has been blessed by the Modern Woodsmen! They re-stocked our cleaning supplies. We are so very thankful!

Making goals, meeting goals, moving forward and most importantly knowing all glory goes to our Lord and Savior! That's OUR goal at McNair Mens Mission! And we couldn't do it without a community that supports us!
