Cape May County Zoo AAZK Chapter

Cape May County Zoo AAZK Chapter We are a chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers consisting of staff members at the Cape May County Zoo.
(1)

Our chapter is made up of zoo keepers from the Cape May County Zoo. We put on events to raise money to provide enrichment items for our animals (like the toys you see in their exhibits) and to give donations to other organizations that are important in animal conservation. We also send our zookeepers to conferences in order to further their education so that we may provide the best possible care to our animals!

Come join us on Sunday, June 21, between 11am and 2pm to celebrate World Giraffe Day at the zoo! The day will feature fun, educational activities and biofacts near the giraffe habitat. There will be an opportunity to play giraffe trivia and watch our wooden giraffe grow a little taller each time you answer a question correctly. You can even take a selfie with our 4.5-foot stuffed animal giraffe!

Come visit our three resident giraffes and bring your spare change to support giraffe conservation. Donations will go to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, an organization that works to conserve and manage wild giraffes throughout Africa.

Hope to see you there! 🦒

Lots of fun donations from Erica, Scott and Jack! The wallabies got banana chips for training. A bunch of the animals checked out the little soccer ball toys (stay tuned for some FIFA posts!). The siamangs got a new chair. Marty got another tug n' toss toy, and the keepers got fruit snacks! Thanks so much for all the goodies!

Thank you to Meg Keenan for donating some goodies! Meg donated in honor of her mommom, Elsie, who loved visiting the zoo. Elsie made it to 106 years-young!! ♥ Thank you, Meg, for the kong toy for the bobcats, the canned mangosteen fruit for the De Brazza's monkeys, the goat milk for frozen treats for the lions, and the Gatorade for the keepers! ♥♥♥

❗TONIGHT❗Make sure to stop by Fleck's Ice Cream between 6-9pm to enjoy a sweet treat for a great cause!

A portion of the proceeds will go to The Peregrine Fund, a non-profit organization working to protect bird-of-prey species, such as the Andean Condor. Andean Condors are incredible birds of prey belonging to the New World vulture family. As scavengers, they are essential to preventing the spread of disease. Their populations have declined in the past several years, making them a vulnerable species. The work of the Peregrine Fund is critical to protecting their habitats and raising awareness among local communities.

We hope to see you there! Drop your favorite ice cream flavors in the comments 🍨🍦
