Bayou Community Foundation Community Foundation committed to addressing human service, education, and coastal preservation needs in Lafourche, Terrebonne, and Grand Isle, LA.

In the summer of 2011, a group of philanthropic leaders from Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes envisioned the creation of a community foundation to serve the Bayou Region. Spring of 2012 saw the formal creation of the Bayou Community Foundation (BCF), a donor advised fund of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. The Foundation's work was buoyed by a 5-year, $500,000 grant from the Gheens Foundation in the fall of 2012. BCF is now working to raise $1 million in local, national, and international contributions to match that award and to make continued investments in community non-profits working in Lafourche Parish, Terrebonne Parish, and Grand Isle, LA. BCF focuses on addressing the human service, education, workforce development, and coastal preservation needs of Lafourche, Terrebonne, and Grand Isle through an annual grants program and other community outreach efforts.

BCF is proud to celebrate these two outstanding nonprofit leaders whose dedication to serving children and families is making a lasting difference in our communities every day.

Joey Vining, founder and president of Children's Water Safety Awareness, has turned personal tragedy into a lifesaving mission, providing free swim lessons, life jackets and water safety education to protect children and families across our region. Tara Detiveaux, founder and Executive Director of Hope Extreme, is creating brighter futures for children and families in east Houma through mentorship, educational programs and a welcoming place where every child feels loved.

Just 2 days left to apply for BCF’s Ripple Pilot Grants. Local nonprofits, don't miss this new grant funding opportunity!

Grants of up to $10,000 are available to support new and expanding nonprofit programs serving residents of South Lafourche or South Terrebonne. Funding is available for projects and capacity-building efforts that align with ANCHOR the Bayou priorities, including housing, education-to-career pathways, health care, community spaces and connection, and disaster preparedness.

A big THANK YOU to Second Harvest Food Bank - Feeding South Louisiana for inviting Bayou Community Foundation to speak at their Annual Partner Agency Conference last week!

We were grateful for the opportunity to share how BCF is working alongside local food banks and community partners to address hunger in Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle.

Through our Hunger Working Group, Food Bank Map & Calendar, and annual Growing Good Grants Program, BCF helps strengthen connections, expand access to food resources and support the organizations working tirelessly to feed our neighbors everyday.

We learned, we shared, we were INSPIRED!

Our Nonprofit Conference last Thursday was simply incredible! Alongside over 120 Bayou Region nonprofit professionals and volunteers, and new friends from across South Louisiana, we enjoyed amazing speakers, strengthened our leadership skills, and got to know each other and the impactful work of fellow nonprofit organizations even better. 👉See link to the FULL Photo Album in comments.
