🍁 Free Community Event: Fall Into Good Health! 🍁

REMINDER: The public is invited to a FREE family-oriented health & resource event on Thursday, October 1 from 4pm-6pm at the Terrebonne Parish Main Library in Houma. Please spread the word!

The community will have the opportunity to obtain resources, as well as create family-friendly treats, arts & crafts, build first aid kit, learn how to take fingerprints and gain skills on calming and stress relieving techniques and much more. In addition, various health screenings will be offered, along with Medicaid assistance and WIC registration. All families that attend will also have the opportunity to register for door prizes! This event is hosted by the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health Region 3 in collaboration with the Terrebonne Parish Main Library.

On September 11, 2001, America experienced unimaginable devastation. Lives were lost, families were changed forever, and a nation stood in shock and grief.

But there was something the attacks could not take away.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲.

They could not take away the compassion of strangers, the courage of first responders, the willingness to help one another, or the strength of a nation determined to stand together.

In the midst of tragedy, we saw humanity at its best.

Today, we remember that the lives lost, honor the heroes who ran towards danger, and remember that even in our darkest moments, 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀. 🇺🇸

Do you talk about emotions with your kids?

The way we express our feelings matters because young ones are watching. 👀 They're modeling our emotional behavior.

One of the most powerful gifts you can give your child is admitting when you make a mistake. Apologizing and showing your vulnerability helps your child learn that one can be loved without being perfect. Emotional intelligence is the gift that keeps on giving. The ability to understand other people and work with them makes a difference in modern work life. It is also critical in relationships, and research shows that having positive friendships and romantic relationships dramatically benefits our overall health and wellbeing.
