We are proud to recognize our very own Assistant Principal, Mrs. Brittany McCormick, for successfully completing the Louisiana Department of Education’s year-long Aspiring Principals Leadership Cohort! This intensive program is designed to develop future school leaders, and Mrs. McCormick has represented H. L. Bourgeois High School and TPSD with excellence every step of the way.

We also extend our congratulations to fellow TPSD educator Mrs. Sue Lebouef for completing this journey alongside her.

Your hard work, leadership, and commitment to student success do not go unnoticed. The future is bright with leaders like you!

The teacher “pay raise” mentioned in Amendment 2’s ballot language is just replacing a stipend that teachers are already getting, so overall take-home pay will not change. But Amendment 2 would eliminate state trust funds that support early childhood education and K-12 schools. Learn more: https://investlouisiana.org/amendment2/

Attention Education support professions (paras, bus driver, cafeteria workers and custodians)

Greetings!

The National Education Association is happy to announce that we are accepting applications starting March 21, 2025, from NEA local and state association teams for the ESPs: Supporting Our Own Through Peer Mentoring, 2025 NEA BLENDED LEARNING COHORT.

Through online and in-person, group and individual learning opportunities, state and local association teams will come together to learn with others, share resources, build knowledge, and support one another as they build and develop their own unique education support professional (ESP) peer mentoring program.

ESP peer mentoring programs empower ESPs in the workplace and the association, provide specialized, targeted professional preparation and support, build ESP leader activists, and create the education systems that all our students and members deserve.

Interested local or state associations should form their teams and apply starting March 21, 2025, and no later than May 12, 2025, 5:00 p.m. ET. Selected teams will be notified on June 16, 2025.

Participating teams who successfully complete the online learning can attend the in-person workshop in Washington, D.C., on October 25-26, 2025. NEA will fully fund four individuals from each participating team to attend the in-person workshop.

Please share this new learning opportunity with local leaders and staff interested in advancing ESP professional excellence through peer mentoring. For complete details on the blended learning cohort and to apply, visit www.nea.org/espmentoringworkshop.

Bus drivers are awesome.

A New Orleans school bus driver is hailed a hero after saving nine students as her bus went up in flames. https://bit.ly/3vg97oV
