As of today those missing among the Seacor Power have not yet been rescued. As we reflect on this incident many questions come to mind relation to the rescue efforts brought forth by the United States Coast Guard. It is my understanding that a distress call came from the Seacor Power at approximately 4:30 p.m. With all of the equipment and training going into the United States Coast Guard in relation to rescue efforts such as this, why was the Coast Guard unable to be on the scene in a time frame that would have all aboard to be rescued?

I can make a list of several questions as to why the Coast Guard was unprepared meet the challenge of rescuing and bringing back those aboard the Seacor Power alive. The first question that needs to be answered is why was the coast guard not positioned to perform a rescue. In cases such as this Coast Guard has vessels that are able to cut through raging seas and members who are continually trained to perform rescues in conditions such as this. Why were they not able to reach this lift boat in time for an adequate rescue?

With all of the money, equipment, manpower, and resources provided to the Coast Guard I think we need to re-evaluate where they are positioned in the Gulf of Mexico in relation to oil and gas operations.

The taxpayers has spent billions of dollars in two speed boats, cutters other equipment, and training, and manpower into a system that has failed in it primary reason for existence.

I believe the Coast Guard must re-evaluate it's rescue plan in relation to Gulf of Mexico oil and gas operations. They must be stationed in areas of the Gulf of Mexico where all who are working in the offshore can be rescued.

In my option the Coast Guard should be held accountable for its inability to reach those aboard the Seacor Power. I also believe that a re-evaluation of where the Coast Guard is stationed as well repositioning stations within the confines of the Gulf of Mexico to reach other's in the future that may run into incidents such as this. Let the loss of life in this incident serve as a learning tool tool that will help us re-assess and re-evaluate what must be done to prevent the loss in the future.

You're asking for positive thoughts, feedback, insight, and finances as we undertake something that is desperately needed in this area. We have a record number of homeless within our city and Parish. A good percentage of them if not most are women. Many of them are homeless duo to the economy, a relationship has gone array, addiction, and the list can go on and on and on. One of my very dear and closest friends coach me a few nights ago and felt that it was on her heart to start a safe house with our organization. What we to do in Phase 1 of this project is provide woman who are trouble or in crisis could have a place to come and lay your head for a few days. During this time we could direct them to existing programs that could help with food, job placement and permanent shelter. Safe place where women could go weather they are battered and bruised, addicted, and the
are at a point in life when there's nowhere else to turn. We're asking for your spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, and financial support and make this endeavor a success.
Let there not be a day hit a woman in our city and Parish can wind up on the streets without knowing that there is a future and there is hope. - "Safe House"
