Project update!

The last couple weeks have been busy for the museum storage building project.

After a week of heating, the ground was thawed enough to begin the plumbing and concrete prep work. The attic was also insulated last week.

Once the ground is fully prepped, our HVAC contractor will come in and begin laying the in floor heat pipe. Then comes the concrete.

Exciting things happening at Andersen Scout Camp, With more big projects coming over the next two years.

New range rules for 2026

Good morning everyone!

Just a reminder, today marks the start to our change in our Range rules.

A second adult over the age of 18 is required, anytime the BB gun and archery range are used. The second adult needs to either have a BB gun or archery instructor certification. Or they must possess the Range safety activities, course certificate.

A copy of your certification must be presented to the Ranger or Campmaster before the Range will be released to you.
The range safety activities course certificate can be obtained from My Scouting. Here is the link https://training.scouting.org/courses/SCO_822?bc=W3siaWQiOiIvY2F0YWxvZyIsImlzUGFyZW50Um91dGUiOnRydWUsImtpbmQiOiJjcyIsInRleHQiOiIiLCJzZWFyY2hQYXJhbXMiOiIiLCJ1dWlkIjoiL2NhdGFsb2cifV0=.

With the incoming weather, let's talk snow removal.

Did you know that after 2 inches of snow, it takes approximately 6 hours to plow the entirety of camp, with an additional 30 minutes for every inch after that!

Utilizing multiple vehicles and implements, the Ranger and the occasional volunteer work hard to keep camp accessible for all.

You may ask what equipment is used for snow removal; well, it is a combination of what's listed below.
- Skid steer
- 68" power broom (skid steer)
- Plow (skid steer)
- Snow bucket (skid steer)
- Truck plow
- Salter - The trusty hand shovel.

Of course, with all that equipment comes maintenance. See below photos of some preventive maintenance completed recently on the broom and truck plow.

Finally, we ask that if you are at camp during a snow event, please give ample space for snow removal operations.
