🫀 Water System Update β€” Conservation Still Critical

πŸ’§ Water is beginning to flow back into parts of the system now that repairs have been completed. However, the system remains in a critical conservation phase while the water tower continues to refill and stabilize.

⏳ Important: Any water use slows the recovery process. The more water drawn from the system right now, the longer it will take for the tower to reach and maintain safe operating levels. Even if water is running at your location, we are asking everyone to use it very sparingly.

πŸ”§ Ways to help conserve water right now:

🚿 Avoid showering or bathing if possible

πŸ‘• Postpone laundry and dishwashers

🚰 Turn off water while brushing teeth or washing hands

🚽 Avoid flushing unless absolutely necessary

🌱 Do not use water for outdoor or non-essential purposes

πŸ™ Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience. These conservation efforts directly support restoring reliable service for the entire community. Updates will continue as conditions change.

🚧 Water System Update – Please Continue to Conserve

An update was provided today by the manager of Southern Black Hills Water Service.

!!**The water main repair has been completed. Crews are now pushing water from the booster station to the water tower in order to begin refilling it. At this time, the water tower remains well below an operating level and cannot yet support normal household water use.**!!

**Because the system was significantly depleted over several days, it will also take multiple days to safely refill the tower, even under increased pumping rates and assuming little to no water use during this time.

πŸ”Ή Residents are asked to continue conserving water and avoid non-essential water use for the next several days.
πŸ”Ή Using water during this refill period will slow the recovery of the system for everyone.

Additional updates will be shared as new information becomes available. For official service questions or guidance, customers should contact Southern Black Hills Water Service directly at (605) 745-4669.

Thank you to everyone for your continued patience and cooperation. The Southern Black Hills Water Service team is working hard to get the water flowing again.

Why This Page Exists

Southern Black Hills Water Information Exchange was created as an independent community information resource for residents who receive rural water service from Southern Black Hills Water Service.

At present, water service updatesβ€”such as outages or service interruptionsβ€”are not always communicated in a way that reaches customers quickly. This page was created to help fill that gap by allowing community members to share timely observations so others can be aware and, when appropriate, notify the water service provider promptly.

This page is intended to support community awareness only.

To clarify scope:
β€’ This page does not provide pricing, rate, billing, or official water quality reports.
β€’ All official reports and regulatory information remain available through Southern Black Hills Water Service.
β€’ This page is not operated by Southern Black Hills Water Service or any government utility.

Our goal is simple: to help neighbors stay informed when water service issues arise.
